Got two for Royal Oak. This is pretty much a dream pairing for me. I'm also stoked because I've already seen them twice on this album cycle, and if the Pitchfork rumors are true, I'll be seeing them at least 3 more times.

 

The lack of Midwest dates make me sad

 

Gotta say that After the Earthquake is a perfect song

First listen to this. It's kind of like pop-punk textures dressed in that snobby indie Pitchfork sheen. Really, really good.

 

Can’t wait to see them next week at Pitchfork, im excited for pretty much the entire Friday lineup but Alvvays is the true reason I’m going.


Also, would love to hear The Strokes cover “Pomeranian Spinster”

Man they were so good. Just heater after heater. Tonight kind of mirrored my last Pitchfork in 2021 when Phoebe closed but Big Thief had truly already closed the night for me. Perfume Genius and Alvvays put on the two best shows of the day imo, and The Smile we’re just kind of a bonus to come down from this high.

“Archie, Marry Me” fucking kills live.

They’re so good. I love this band so much. I got to meet Molly and Alex at the CHIRP radio signing earlier in the day and also almost quite literally ran into Molly and Kerri outside of the MJ Lenderman aftershow.

 

Was it just me or did attendance seem a little lower than normal this year?? Just a general sense I had walking around all day.

 

I had minimal issues using my phone the entire night, never felt like I was in a super crowded area, and was able to get on the first subway back towards the loop when The Smile ended so I am inclined to say yes lol

 

Yea, in 2021 I’m pretty sure at least a couple if not all of the days were sold out. Yesterday I was either on the rail or within the first 3 rows for every act I saw except The Smile, and I still had a really great vantage point for them.

In 2021 we waited in line to get in for Armand Hammer to open the day and I never got closer than that. I was back by the beer tents for Phoebe and past the sound tent for Big Thief.

I was nearly on the rail for Perfume Genius, watched the entire set, left halfway through “Queen” and walked into the third row for Alvvays without bothering anyone. Strange.

 

is anyone in here going to their shows in boston or NY coming up? I'm going to be in town during them and wanna go to atleast one.

 

I'm doing Prospect Park on 8/23. I think the other show still has tickets left
