I only listened to Pharmacist in advance too. y'all did not prepare me for Easy On Your Own and Belinda Says being the greatest songs ever made
Yeah, after the brilliance of In Undertow (still my favorite Alvvays song), I had hoped they would dive deeper into their shoegaze leanings. So glad they did.
Also really digging the early REM influence on those jangly guitars. This shit makes me feel so old and miss 120 minutes.
There was a time where I thought we might not get this band back post pandemic, felt kind of surreal listening to this.
This feels like a career making record, gonna get them a lot of exposure I think. So I’m glad they came back.
this is perfect, its exactly what I would have wanted for a new alvvays record. tremendously bummed im missing their tour.
after my first two listens, this doesn't have the hooks that antisocialites did but i feel like this is going to be a supreme fall record.
Yeah, this record is fantastic. Gonna need more listens to pick my stand out tracks but Tile by Tile and Velveteen will be some of them for sure.
This is unreal. Her voice, the lyrics, the melody, the production, the way all these songs keep adding new elements up until they end…AOTY.
“Favorite band takes a break so long and undiscussed you assume they’re done forever then comes back with an entire album that sounds like their best song” is not a musical experience you get to have often but fuck, here we are. Pretty spectacular first listen.
Not a single dud on this. Definitely some more memorable songs than others, but each track is so strong and has its own standout moment!
