Not sure how I felt about this on first listen. I thought it was more consistent than their other albums - less bullshit, but also less standout moments. Excited to come back to it though.
This album is honestly very different from where I thought they would go after the last album, and I am glad. Always thought that album 2 was kinda a lesser re-hash of album 1, except a bit less engaging. But, this really goes in new directions and does a ton of new shit for them. That being said, weird ass album, overall definitely a thumbs up though
I'd put this above their sophomore but not quite as good as debut. Agree with Steve it's kind of all over the place, but the content is still great
After listening a few more times, Snare is really bad, a couple of them kind of plod along for a minute or two more than they need to, but there's enough cool stuff that I'm still in
This is weird, but not weird enough. A "House of the Rising Sun" cover strikes me as a bad choice, would be interested in reading an interview about why they did that.
There are only a few tracks I really return to here - mostly Deadcrush, Adeline, 3WW. Other than that this album doesn't really stick with me. Still excited to see them at Pano in a couple of weeks!
Remix album, REDUXER, is out Sept 28. Features the Pusha remix above and this new remix here 1. 3WW (feat. Little Simz) (OTG Version) 2. In Cold Blood (fest. Pusha T) (Twin Shadow Version) 3. Paigey Cakey and Hex) (ADP Version) 7. Last Year (feat. GoldLink) (Terrace Martin Version) 8. Pleader (feat. PJ Sin Suela) (Trooko Version) 9. 3WW (feat. Lomepal) (Lomepal Version) 10. They tweeted this same thing 6 months before This Is All Yours and 8 months before Relaxer, so probably a new album coming around April-June 2021
