Wow, I am hardcore not into these guys anymore apparently. Haha. The stuff released off this record has been borderline painful to listen to.

 

I liked the second one released the best so far but I'm actually pretty optimistic for this album. The only major missteps this band has ever done have been Dirty Work and the second half of Nothing Personal imo

 

How does this in anyway sound like the Chainsmokers? I'm honestly baffled by that.

Dammit. I didn't realize that, but yea that's not gonna happen then. Oh well, next time maybe... haha

yeah, I made that comment before I heard the song. I think this song is the most valid Chainsmoker comparison I've heard, but I feel like I've been reading a lot of people comparing music to the Chainsmokers now, and if people are using that as a reference point for musical input it's kind of depressing

 

Ok I can kind of get the comparison with Life of the Party. Not the other two though. It still just kind of feels like an easy thing to compare it to just because it's got some electronic elements.

 

yeah I'm the kind of person to simplify electronic elements into just being the chainsmokers

 

I'm not really talking about you, I've seen these comparisons for multiple artists across several websites. More often than not (you're an exception), this seems like people who just hear the electronic stuff and just make an easy comparison (thinking of the new FOB song). I do agree Life of the Party could be a Chainsmokers song, and I can really easily hear Closer translated as an All Time Low song. I don't hear it at all on the other songs though.

 

FOB just sounds like a bad rustie song (which isn't a thing)

 

Can't say I'm familiar with Rustie other than the one with Danny Brown, but agree to disagree on the FOB song haha it's obnoxious but I love it.

Also, the more that I listen, Last Young Renegade is definitely one of the best songs this band has made. Such an unbelievably strong song, and is the perfect encapsulation of the mixture of their old sound within the new sound.

 

I don't think the new songs sound like The Chainsmokers but I also have made an effort to listen to as little Chainsmokers as possible in my life.

 

Love that song probably by favourite so far.

I might be the only one but musically it reminds me of what 30 Seconds To Mars was sounding like on Kings And Queens. Just sonically bits instantly made me think of Kings And Queens.

 

Chainsmokers are popular and use electronic elements so if you use any electronic elements at all you are the Chainsmokers. QED.

(I mean fuck's sake at least the Linkin Park comparisons made sense. Now it's just being trotted out because popular = bad)

Damn, four singles is a lot for a ten track album

 

Classic Fueled By Ramen though. (Death of A Bachelor was 11 songs and they also released 4 singles ahead of time, and that turned out really well).

Was it? That feels so long ago now, Hallelujah, Death of a Bachelor, Victorious, Emperor's New Groove, LA Devotee were all released, so yea you're right.
