Little bit of both for me. They started hyping up Twenty One Pilots and I just felt out of touch

Not sure why but I really haven't listened to this album at all. I feel like Dirty Laundry and the title track were released so damn long ago. The last 3 songs are really solid, though.

What's everyones thoughts on the album now it's been a few months?

I still personally really like it. I think it's better than FH (love Cinderblock Garden though) but I wish some of the guitars were punchier in some songs.

This still sits firmly in top two. I'm not sure if I like it as a whole more than Future Hearts, but it's definitely more consistent.

I love the tones and production but a lot of the songs fall a little flat for me. There's prolly 3 or 4 that I really like.

I don't think I've listened to this since June, unfortunately. I pretty much forgot about it.

^Same here but that's pretty much how all albums are for me these days which has been bothering me. Still think very fondly of this one and will hopefully revisit soon.

weirdly enough seeing them live on this tour has pushed guts to one of my favorite songs of theirs, haha

Maybe that has something to do with that Dirty Work is actually a great album :eh:

(Or it's because Guts is easily one of the best on that album.)

the funny thing about guts is that that song is one of the ones you can easily see the major label influence on (getting the singer of the sounds to guest vocal, there's no way the two bands knew about each other beforehand lol)

Yea the major label influence alone wasn't the problem on the album. I think it's just that the major label didn't know what to do with them so they tried a "let's throw everything at this and see what sticks approach". It's why some of it really works, but there are some low points as well. The biggest flaw is that it lacks cohesion, but the highs of the album have just always strongly outweighed the problems.

i just know that 2010 cwhit hated it so i can't imagine 2017 cwhit would feel much differently hahaha.

My opinion on Dirty Work has softened a lot in recent years but I still rank it as their worst album. I think if they had just dropped "I Feel Like Dancin'" and "That Girl" from the tracklist and kept the rest of the ten tracks it wouldn't be remembered as harshly as it is. It'd still be my least favorite ATL album but I don't think I would've had the same visceral reaction if those songs weren't on it (specifically if Dancin hadn't been the lead single and been so horrific of a song).

Guts is a great song though, probably the best one on the record. And Heroes is still a jam too (thanks, Feldy).

Dirty Work has some real jams, but I'd probably still rank it as one of their worst. Heroes, Guts, Do You Want Me, Under A Paper Moon, and Return The Favor are great tracks. Hell I'd say Time Bomb is fine too. But fuck they haven't topped That Girl in terms of shitty songs.

Hmm but didn't 2010 cwhit also like FTSK...

    (Realistically, you are probably correct.)

That Girl is truly a horrid song.

I Feel Like Dancin' is fun. I honestly have no problem with it, but they did try to pull off a "hey we're trying to make a hit song and we know that will piss off our fans so if we just kind of make it a joke then maybe they won't mind", and it obviously backfired.

If they had chosen a different song as the lead single, I think the opinion on the album would be massively different.

exactly, i would have been far more likely to like dirty work at that point

We are bordering dangerously close on putting ATL and FTSK on the same level. But fair.

    Also fair.

They topped it on that same album haha

Nah man. That Girl stands out like a sore spot in their entire discography. The closest they got to that level of bad on Dirty Work was I Feel Like Dancin' which was bad, but not horrid.
