You mean Paramore? Yeah, I'm not really sure how to explain that.

My big question is how the hell they sold that many copies of Future Hearts.

Well, I could be naive but I think ATL is at the stage in their career where they're not concerned with getting a radio hit. I genuinely do think they thought FBR was the right place for them creatively; that said, I'm sure they expected the record to do better commercially.

Yeah, I dunno, I guess I wrongly took that as evidence of how big they are (or were in 2015).

their sound is definitely more top 40-like than it was on Future Hearts, don't you think? i'd bet FBR's record of propelling alternative acts to stardom was a deciding factor in their move

This is a Cwhit level failure of a post.

    hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

so what is your reasoning for the drop of this album then?

Maaaybe, but I do just think this was their logical next step musically. Again, I could be naive, but I don't think their creative direction was influenced by a desire for stardom. It totally had something to do with their life to FBR though, I'm sure.

  10. Not many people buy albums, even fewer buy mid-level band albums, FH's sales were overinflated from 5SOS and this is about what I'd expect this size of band with this kind of album to do.

And your attacks on Paramore remain asinine.

  11. I mean, Bleachers is gonna probably do like around 15k-20k. And had very large press and late night TV appearances and the whole shebang.

I think y'all overestimate how many people buy albums.

That's actually really shocking to me too.

  13. Heh, as I said ... I think y'all overestimate how many people buy albums. Especially in these genres.

I guess so. They've dropped off a ton over the years and I haven't quite caught up to the times haha.

but what was the point of moving to FBR then? pretty sure they could've pulled off those numbers on Hopeless.

i love the paramore record, it's in my top ten
    i'm blaming FBR

  17. Good for you, you're still wrong. Hell, Hayley herself backed what I said weeks ago today.

all i'm saying is that there's a trend here. can't prove causality but there's an interesting trend

  19. I mean, there's the obvious want for any kind of change. Or that not everyone likes working with Hopeless for a variety of reasons. Or that they got a nice signing bonus and/or more tour support. It's not like Hopeless is lighting up the charts. Not many people buy albums, especially not from this genre (see: YC, NFG, etc.). Maybe if they added some breakdowns or were a new band they could get some more.

Hell, Dirty Work, an album that fans absolutely REVOLTED AGAINST that leaked a month early during the worst sales period in the history of music as a medium sold about double this record. Just find that fascinating.

It's sad that in order for your band to get album sales anymore you either need to be like one of the 1 or 2 biggest album releases of the week or you need to have a huge physical preorder on vinyl and CD that is marked well to soundscan which can inflate first week sales

comparing ATL to YC or NFG makes zero sense, they're at least a level up in popularity and a very different crowd

  22. Well, you've said quite a few things ... first things now proven wrong and it's all on top of just ignoring data. One Ok ROck had their highest charting album ever on FBR, ATC did better than expectations, Basement's re-release.

    You're talking nonsense.

  23. If you're comparing a label's ability to promote an album, comparing what they do with other bands makes all the sense.

ok go isn't even on fueled by ramen...unless your'e talking one ok rock which never had an album in the US...

  25. Wrong. Ambitions came out in January. Debuted at around 106 on the Billboards and has sold well over 400k copies world wide now.
