I find this album to be.... enjoyable-ish at most. Honestly, I feel like the whole album reeks of "mature album" syndrome but falls short in that most songs all sound the same. This is definitely one of the most one dimensional albums I've heard in a while

also, did anyone mention that the verses of "Afterglow" are like the alternative take on "I Want Candy"

I'd totally believe if someone told me Andrew McMahon wrote the verses of Afterglow.

Switch "Hello Brooklyn" for "Poison" and NP would be even better.

That's actually a really good comparison, the cadence and vocal melodies are pretty on par with his style

I've always liked Hello Brooklyn. Therapy is probably the weakest track on NP.

Easily their best album since Nothing Personal. "Life of the Party" and "Afterglow" are killer.

With Nothing Personal I say drop "Hello, Brooklyn" and "Lost In Stereo," put "Poison" on the album, and baby you got a stew goin'.

SWIR is still my favorite full-length by them but I don't outright hate a single All Time Low album. Dirty Work is a weak album overall and has their by-far worst and most embarrassing song on it, but I can't deny that I like a couple of the songs on there.

I'd drop Therapy and maybe Sick Little Games. That album only needs one slower song and Too Much does it really well. I don't think Poison would fit though, it's a great bonus track.

Come One, Come All from SWIR is one of their biggest duds imo. That's the only one I'd cut from that album.

I'd cut that and The Beach, I think. Never was huge on either.

Thinking about it, All Time Low is a band where I love them in general but I can pretty much cut at least one song from every one of their releases (except Put Up or Shut Up and, honestly, Last Young Renegade. I don't think there's a single bad song on this album).

Yep, I agree. That doesn't stop them from being one of my favorite bands though.

And PUOSU is a throwaway release to me. Do I get banned again now?

"Too much of anything is too much" is such a bad line

Ah, dammit, yes. But check the Q&A thread, we agreed on something else over there.

Haha, that early super pop punk stuff is not that interesting to me.

I know, I know, I do pay attention when people say stuff despite what it may seem like sometimes. And if I'm being honest, I know it's no indication of what they've become, and isn't as technically good as their later stuff, but I have a lot of high school memories from it as it came out in the summer after my freshman year. So yeah, nostalgia goggles. But I admit it, at least.

Put Up or Shut Up is amazing but probably is significantly helped by nostalgia goggles - that was pretty much the first """"punk""" type album I listened to, so it really was game changing to me, even if it was really just a rehash of 1,000 other bands.

Absolutely agree every album they have could afford to lose a track or 2. This is their shortest full length yet and I think that really helped this one. And that still doesn't stop SRIR from being a top 10 of all time album for me (but yea I agree the Beach and Come One add nothing to that album).

I loathed the band for selling out when I heard Too Much but then it was so damn catchy it eventually won me over.

It's become apparent to me that FH is my least favorite, which I didn't really realize until I thought about it, but something about it is just kind of bland to me, but I do like it overall.

People don't think like Therapy? It's probably my favorite on the album. Weirdly enough, Heroes is my favorite ATL song overall, and it makes me remember Dirty Work as a lot better than it actually is.

FH was definitely the one that blew me away most on first listen, and I still love that album. I'd say they evolved as much from Don't Panic to FH as they did from FH to LYR.

This one isn't grabbing me the same way immediately. I still really like it, I just need more time to sort out my exact thoughts. Not positive about sequencing still.

Y'all look at this. Super horrible image quality pic (taken on a flip phone, natch) of me and Alex in front of the Stone Pony in Asbury Park, NJ. Damn, I was almost 17 in this pic, SWIR had just come out, like, literally that same month, and the openers at this show were two local bands I can't remember and Just Surrender. I remember asking Alex if they were going to play "Vegas" and he said not this tour because the record was so new but probably on the next one. I was cool back then, obviously.

    The spiciest meme

Sick Little Games is a straight up banger, Too Much is not great and "Too much of anything is too much" is a god awful line.

Went through this album, honestly kind of felt meh-ish for most of it and I had really enjoyed Future Hearts. I'll go through again and nothing was outright bad on it.

Saying that it reeks of "mature album" syndrome is REALLY spot on and I never had a way to describe that feeling until that, thank you.
