I felt like Future Hearts was much more them revisiting what they tried to go for on Dirty Work. This one feels completely different to me (then again like I said I still haven't listened to all of it so that's just off 4 songs, so maybe I should listen before I speak haha)

I also see this as kind of a second try at a Dirty Work type album. That said, the album is great - Casey's wrong, no surprise there

The last 3 songs are definitely the strongest on the album, but I've formed this weird attachment to Dirty Laundry that might make it my favorite so far.

After four or five listens, I'm not that into this overall. Most of it goes for a style of pop I'm not necessarily enamored with. There are a few really damn good songs ("Dark Side," the Tegan and Sara feature), but I doubt I'll come back to it much.

I'm pretty much on the same boat, I think. An album that I can probably throw on in the car with my fiancee that won't offend either of our music tastes type deal.

  6. just finished listening to this whole thing. it was hard to get through and it was under 40 minutes... eek. not a fan at all. it just sounds like the same pop/rock stuff that's big on the radio these days... "dirty laundry" was the only song that i'd say i kind of like on it.

So I'm definitely comfortable with saying that I am a huge fan of this album. I commend them for jumping head-on into this new sound, because I think they needed it and I think it works. This isn't and won't be the best thing I hear in 2017, but it gives me a good feeling when it's on. I needed a record like this - and Bleachers - today.

I got into ATL around the time Nothing Personal came out, so this is the 4th album I've seen them release. It's a very cool feeling to have a band that you grew up with and basically got you through middle school release their best album so many years later.

I'm listening to it now and I have some thoughts but I don't have the vocabulary some of you guys have when it comes to "Rock" so maybe I'll leave it at this: I think some songs are great, I think some songs are musically pretty terrible, and I think Alex is VERY talented.

The drum fill in the second half of Dark Side is sick.

The album is my favorite by them by far, just for how cohesive it is. Doesn't match the highs of their best songs, but as an album their other albums can't really compete.

I like this better than I thought I would. After giving this a proper listen with undivided attention,I think the album flows very well and keeps me engaged from beginning to end. A nice and welcomed addition to their discography.

I think this is one of their best albums, next to Don't Panic (at least for me). Dirty Laundry is still the best track on the album. Very cohesive and fun record.

Sums up my feelings pretty well. I got into them maybe 6 months before SWIR came out. I doubt any album will ever quite match that one for me just because of the nostalgia attached. I still clearly remember the time when my dad drove me to Best Buy so I could get that album on release day. It's so great to be this excited about one of their albums 6 releases later. Other bands may have surpassed them as my favorite band, but I will always have a strong attachment to the band. I have specific memories attached to every one of their album releases - some as casual as just a really fun summer, some more deep like adjusting to life away at college. They really are probably the best example of a band I literally grew up with. Im so proud of them and how far they come, and I know I will support them for as long as they keep doing this (which will hopefully be for a very long time). Sorry for all the sap, but Bleachers and All Time Low have emotionally broken me in the best way today.

I just finished my first listen and I'm honestly just amazed. This is by far their best album (even if SWIR) will always be my favorite. I love how much they experimented on this. Dark Side of Your Room and Afterglow both gave me actual chills. So different for them but they pulled it off so well. I don't have enough good words to say but that I don't know if I ever expected to be this excited about an All Time Low album again. All I really have left to say is bring on the summer tour. I hope they load that setlist up with this album.

I haven't listened to the album yet but the Dirty Work comparisons I'm seeing are a bit concerning. All their other releases are awesome but Dirty Work I try to forget exists. :cringe:

It's much more confident and "all in" on it's sound than Dirty Work, I wouldn't worry about it.

I don't hear the Dirty Work comparisons at all, but even if they're there, I wouldn't worry. This album is great.

(Still over here in a lonely corner defending Dirty Work.)

Sonically it's not like Dirty Work, but I understand getting the same feel from it.

Oh that's good then, as long as it's not basically Dirty Work 2 then it should be fine. >-p I honestly don't even know why I didn't like DW, for some reason it just never clicked with me like their other albums did.

If anything, the Dirty Work comparisons are basically stating the embrace of "pop" on this record, but with welcomed confidence and understanding of what they're doing this time around.

i guess i should just accept that this band isnt for me. FH was good but after revisiting it i just couldnt get into it. got bored with this one pretty quickly. tried their back catalog and got nothing from it. oh well, shoutout to those of you that are into it.

Nothing Personal is one of the all-time great pop punk records. Their other albums are enjoyable, but nothing comes close to that imo.

Future Hearts is still their best to me and I don't think LYR will top it personally.

But then again, I still really enjoy everything since SWIR. Even Dirty Work, which is their clear weakest album to me, has plenty of stuff I like and I'll play it most of the way through.
