I know delays happen all the time for various reasons but I feel like these guys really missed an opportunity. They had a lot of momentum around this time last year and I feel like some it has died off. I'm sure the quality of the album won't suffer because of it, but I just hope they can get enough buzz again so they can blow up.
Honestly, didn't this band take a break for awhile before Season? Felt like that record took forever to come out. Not surprised the follow up also took awhile but I don't think the momentum has died. I think Movement EP really got it going again and is still pretty dense to keep people's attention.
I wouldn't say they took a break. I definitely saw them with the most frequency between the release of s/t and The Season. To be fair, tho, they're semi-local (in the loosest sense of the word) to Atlanta/Athens, so that probably has something to do with how often I've gotten to see them..
Ohh I see what you're saying..I think you're right, there. Most times I saw them were just random one offs. They opened for MO and Kevin Devine once and then they headlined (I think) the Favorite Gentlemen tour..other than that, yeah not a whole lot of national touring that I'm aware of.
I feel like they had a lot of momentum coming off that tour with La Dispute. I seem to remember a lot of people talking about them that I wouldn't have necessarily expected to like them. That always struck me as a big moment for them. Best performance I ever saw was when they opened for Lydia. They opened with "Burn Hot The Records," and they didn't let up from there. Easily one of the best, most intense sets I've ever seen.
Honestly, I'm very surprised more of you in this thread do not enjoy Microwave. I think they're a newer, more aggressive version of Manchester Orchestra. By no means do I think they're a rip-off or watered down version of All Get Out, although I do hear some similarities. I think an AGO / Microwave tour would be neat, they're easily two of the best live bands I've ever seen. Also, it's pretty amazing that AGO opened for both Fun. and Anberlin, I hope when they release this new album, they can go on tours similar to that again.
A couple years. Stovall is excellent, and their two songs on the split with Head North are even better. They'll be releasing a new LP this fall.
I think its crazy how many other people make the connection between AGO and Microwave. And I don't think they have similar sounds I just think they both are somewhat new to the Indie Rock scene and just stand out far above the other subpar bands that have recently come out. I will say that I think Hussey is more gifted in song writing though.
Taken from the BTR email I just got: "To close out 2016 we have a new All Get Out album coming (you did NOT hear that from me) and some other cool stuff. Talk soon." Close out 2016? It's July!
Adore the split...especially the Head North side. Need a full length from them pronto. Hoping the new Microwave LP is a bit more mature thematically. Would jump on my EOY list real quick if that is the case
