Yea matt prince brings so much energy to this band. He's going to the U.K. With them too. He has a really odd style that I really love
Oh and he was incredibly nice to me, we talked a while at the mercy table about his time with all get out and kevin devine and a little bit about the Manchester record, his brother is the bassist in Manchester
love this album a lot - lyrical content is uniquely relatable and the production is beautiful and the vocal melodies are subtly unforgettable.
I think the album came out with a lot of expectation and it didn't sound quite like what people wanted it to. I listen to this record way more than the season. For the fans that didn't like this one, I'm pretty sure they are shifting back towards a heavier sound for their next record.
Catching up to the thread- if you were at the Philly date, they really were loud haha. It was such a fun time, and I think it was my forth time seeing them since Quitter came out. I don't think there is another artist at this time that I enjoy more than All Get Out right now. It's weird because I was sitting on The Season for years before even listening to it. Quitter was a grower, but I swear it grows and grows. I didn't love it right away, but I listen to it almost daily now. ATX is such a good song, especially. Even songs I wasn't a fan of at first like Chasing Skirt and Now You Got It are songs I enjoy a lot now. The album isn't as immediately catchy as a lot of the Season was, and I think after how heavy Movement was we expected something in that realm a bit... but this album is still so good. I wonder why they took Home out of their live set for the last couple tours. I felt like it was one of the easier to digest songs in a live setting, but regardless, I'm just really hopeful to see them again sooner than later.
I understand what people mean when they say an album is a grower, but I also think that for the most part if you listen to any album that you don't like at first that it will grow on you just by nature of familiarizing yourself with it. Just a Tuesday thought from your pal loudasallgetout.
This hasn't had near the staying power of the last two releases. Still enjoy it but don't always want to listen front to back.
this is partly true but usually albums that induce repeated listens to the point of mere-exposure are able to do so because they have something rewarding to offer initially, even if that something is only processed subconsciously also everything is a grower to an extent, but usually not enough to cause someone to go from disliking it to liking it, case in point: songs on the radio
This didn't hit me as hard as the Season initially, if nothing else because the Season had the 'holy shit, what is this new band?' thing going on. But really, Quitter has held up just as well as the Season and Movement. I think all three are unique pieces of work that flow perfectly as complete compositions. I don't see a dropoff in quality at all from one to the other; they're just very different pieces of music. My All Get Out playlists have been Quitter heavy as well. Before all is said and done, I think I may end up listening to this one more than the Season (which is still an all time classic album in my mind). I don't know what people were expecting. But I do thing that when a band releases a classic debut, whatever their next work is will be difficult to process.
Knowing Nathan on a professional level and how good of a guy he is definitely helped me enjoy the album more maybe idk... also the content is really relatable if you are a musician, which I am. The songs speak to me, and I'm sort of not into heavier stuff right now so I'm favoring this over movement, but I think season is still his best AGO record. Sometimes I think ground me is my favorite Nathan hussey record
I actually really love how they used synths on this album, just helps add some layers to the music. I wonder if that influenced the MANCHORCH record at all
I seriously love this album. I still listen to it regularly. And as much as I LOVE The Season, this one's my favorite. But I totally understand people feeling differently. This one just hits me really hard in all the best ways.
will we ever hear the season bsides? i thought they'd get released before any completely new stuff but clearly that didn't happen. how many people even have or have heard hand in mine? just rucker?
I asked Nathan about The Season b-sides at a show this year, and he said something like "I doubt I'll ever release them, but there are some songs in there that I'm really proud of, like this one called Hand in Mine." Such a tease.
