Sideways, Whatever, Room to Talk, Chasing Skirt, Get My Cut -- But really the whole thing is awesome

 

Haven't really revisited this album much, honestly, besides ATX.

Mistake

Maybe give it a zero expectation listen: there's a lot of good music on the record it just doesn't sound like the season

Put it on and do a 1000 piece jigsaw puzzle. That's the best way to listen to music.

 

It's been a few weeks since I put this on. It ended up in my top 25 but was a bit of a disappointment based on my hype after Movement. Not to say it's not a good record, it absolutely is, but I think it's the weakest thing they've put out yet.

My favorites are definitely Room To Talk, Whatever, and Empty Nest, particularly that last one.

 

Home, Whatever, and ATX are probably my favorites at this point. Home is by far the most fun to sing along to.

I love this record, but after spending nearly the first month after release listening to it every day, I haven't gone back to it in awhile. We'll see how this album ages over time, but I don't think NLAQ offers nearly as much replay value as The Season.

Saw them at a tiny venue in San Diego last night and it was awesome, as always. They tacked on some Jimmy Buffet to the end of Get My Cut, and then closed with ATX, which nearly crumbled the old bones of Che Café. Got to chat with Nathan for awhile before the show...super humble dude, despite my attempts to flatter him. He said Mel just recently sent over a bunch of their old demos (some rough, some finished, like Hand in Mine and The Reason You're Still Alive), and that he's meeting up with him today in LA. Happy to hear that they're still cool. He also said the demos would probably never see the light of day, although he did have a pretty cool attitude about some of the demos that are floating around right now.

All in all, it was a fantastic night. Got the set list, too.

 

Finally got around to listening to this last night and it's pretty good. Whatever was an immediate standout

that was annoying to type and I wanted to quit halfway through but I persisted just like I shall persist in my quest to hear these blessed songs

 

Has Nathan been ending the set with solo Let Me Go outro a lot recently? He did it tonight

 

Also is that "you got me" behind "I'm not making it up" in chasing skirt?
