This is more to my liking than Movement tbh. I also echo the sentiments that the chorus sounds Weatherbox-y.

 

after 5 listens I like it a lot. not going to listen to it again until I hear the album

 

I would enjoy that.

I also think, as you said, this would make a good opener. Short, fast, straightforward, and then let's get to the heart of it.

This is a first listen I'd read. Still not sure if I'm going to buy it on vinyl or not. I would've impulse bought it when they announced it, but at this point I've had too much time to think about it.

If you've heard the album, I have 2 questions –

First, thoughts on this as the first single? Second, is there anything that has some of the heaviness we heard on Movement?

but this song is really meh. literally just verse chorus repeat plus a lackluster bridge that's basically just chorus instrumental.

 

I like it but I just like his voice and lyrics a lot.

It's not as earth shattering as the first time I heard the album version of Lucky Bastard and I'm not wild about how much it sounds like a MO song to me, but I'm still excited to hear the rest of it. Will still probably be my AOTY if Brand New keeps fucking around.

 

I keep telling myself that just because it's my favourite band but this year has been so so strong already. It's really going to have to blow me away to get #1

 

If I wasn't so bad at keeping up with releases every year, I would probably say the same thing.

 

there has already been an insane amount of good music released this year, but it has mainly been in the hip hop/rap genre...
