I'm late to reading the thread since the stream but pretty much agree 100% with every thing @teebs41 said. my thoughts below. 1. ATX easily best song on the album but others are closing in with more listens. Room To Talk flows amazingly through. 2. Definitely sounds more like follow up to GM with more realized instrumentation thanks to the ManOrch fellas. 3. Vocals and production are immensely better on this album. 4. Album is waaaayyy tooo short!! 5. Will def be top 3 AOTY but I think choosing a clear winner between Microwave and AGO is gonna be harder than I thought. They both matured so well on these soph albums.
Second spin of this, first since it streamed last week. I said it was a grower last week, and I stand by that statement, as I love it more than I did then.
Chasing skirt went from my least favorite to my favorite in a day not sure how that happens but I think @KennedyBN pointing out the pinegrove similarity helped me understand the vibe of the song more ha
The first half of this is so damn good. Room to Talk, Chasing Skirt, Whatever, and Empty Nest are probably my four favourites.
This is a totally dumb complaint but it kind of annoys me that the song is called "Now You Got It" when he's clearly singing "Now you've got it". Also, the beginning of "Room To Talk" reminds me of the beginning of "Almost Here" (the song) by The Academy Is . . .
So I actually have a complaint about ATX.... The "Austin Texas Heat" part is one of if not the stand out moment of the album but it's so good that it makes the rest of the song kind of dull.
I disagree when that part comes up again in the verse it's just as good I think but after that verse things calm down a bit but still an incredible song, I love the dark tones
Gave this another shot and i'm so bummed about this record. I want to love it like their old stuff but just feels like such a regression.
