Yes it is. Especially live when he takes the third verse down the octave and then belts the second half of it when the guitars come in
This song is so good, definitely the best single so far. Might even be one of my fav ago songs already
i understand the cope criticisms. the production is pretty stale. the drums sound like they were recorded in another zip code. but the songs are tight, the thing is cohesive, and its ten steps up from the garbage that is simple math. (waiting for someone to come at me for that last statement).
cant stand the songwriting, most of the record falls completely flat. the songs just arent interesting, though they translate very well live. something about the recorded versions just lack.....something.
I think COPE and Simple Math suffer from the same issue. Songwriting is there, but the production is lacking. In the Case of Simple Math, it's missing Bite. The guitars aren't aggressive at all. On COPE they go waaaaay too far in the opposite direction. Love both records though.
I didn't like SM at first either but I think it's their favourite of mine now. That's the beauty of art though I guess. Everyone can be impacted differently by different things. I MEAN SOME PEOPLE LIKE NICKELBACK!
see i dont think the songwriting is there on simple math so the production issues are even more egregious. with cope i can look past it because the songs are great. especially the title track, talk about a huge fucking tune
Maybe it comes down to different life experiences? Simple Math resonates really strong with me lyrically. The title track, Deer, and a few others have (especially within the past couple of weeks) been particularly relevant to my life.
Damn Andy Hull is a good looking man. I love how Chris is like, the biggest fan of the band that he played in. Just rocking the fuck out when not playing the brief keyboard parts in the song.
i love when musicians are like that live even if they dont have the biggest roles in the band. like, no one enjoys being a member of bayside more than bayside's bassist. that dude goes the fuck off live
Reminds me of when I saw The Tower and The Fool open for Panic! at the Disco in RI a few years ago. My best friend and I were so enamored with their bassist that we missed out on their guitarist going crazy, etc. The dude was so into the groove that we couldn't not watch him.
Andy Hull is the reason I'm growing out my beard and I'm not ashamed to admit it. (heh, wonder if it will make me a better vocalist. )
i hardly ever listen to manchester anymore but i will see them every single chance i get. i think ive seen them 5 or 6 times now. they get better every time. them and thrice are imo the best live bands in alt rock
