the guitars definitely remind me of MO, especially with the little bends in the chorus. verses remind me of tony the tiger
Gonna have to pass on this one. I've already heard Home a few times and Get My Cut once, I want the rest of the record to be a surprise
Reminded me to Tony the Tiger too. Some people were saying that the Get My Cut chorus was super Cope-like, but I didn't hear it. I think this chorus is Cope-like.
Sometimes I feel like I'm the only person in the world that doesn't think Hussey's voice sounds like Andy's. The Cope-like chorus on this one I can somewhat see though.
It's starting to bum me out how much I don't really like the songs we've heard from this. Two songs that could have been b-sides on my least favorite MO record and one that's just okay to me. To be fair, they've always been a better live band for me, so maybe I just need to see them be performed a couple of times..
I don't think his voice sounds anything like Andy's. I think they sing in similar ways sometimes, though.
I mean AGO always had a little MO thing going on and now with Andy and Rob with writing credits on this, I'm not surprised it sounds even more like MO. But I love MO and I agree that Cope was severely underrated. I can't say I have a favorite MO album though I love them all equally with METN slightly squeaking above the rest.
alright so verses sound like let me go from the season the chorus sounds like something new the bridge is what sounds CRAZY like manchester orchestra but whatever i like it and its good
what don't you like about it. The song writing is really interesting to me, i love the topics of divorce (trees) and I love how dark the mansion feels.. I still feel like manchester is missing their devil and god though, maybe it will be LP 5
Ughhh I don't even know. The whole album just sounds like its a wall of muddy guitar played in the exact same tone. I guess I've never connected with any of the songs or lyrics on it. The highlight of the album for me is the guitar solo outro on Trees. It's all just really boring and there's nothing I ever want to go back to.
My problem with Cope (I know nobody asked) is that it wasn't what MO said they wanted it to be. They claimed it would be a "pound you over the head" rock album, and all it was was loud, muddy (thanks loudasallgetout), mid-tempo songs that would have been better served with a gentler touch (hello, Hope). Combine parts of Cope with parts of Hope, and there's an album I would care for a bit more.
hmm okay, appreciate your opinion. I disagree on a large level.. do I wish the drums were louder yea, but I think there are some good things there and I've listened to it a TON. I will probably revisiting this band in a big way soon.
I like Hope more than Cope but still don't love it. Lyrically it does nothing for me but I like the songs more when they have the room to breathe.
