not yet, still working on it. oh really, what songs did they do Vox on? they've also got another side band called city ghost that's pretty cool
From The Republic Of Wolves ‘Shrine’ Booklet: (I don’t know Sunsleepers band members names) Anjali Krishnan on Worry If You Want Jeffrey Mudgett, Dom Nastasi and Nathan Hussey (All Get Out) on Bask Brianne Mavis played violin on 3 tracks as well. Bask is gang vocals (and honestly TRoW has 3-4 members who sing). They took a photo all together and I can’t remember if they were recording in the same location or if Nathan was giving production advice or what. That’s how I heard of Sunsleeper.
I didn't know this and it makes me so happy. TRoW and AGO put out two of my favorite albums from last year. Haven't listened to any of Sunsleeper's recordings yet but saw them live with AGO and enjoyed it.
This is going to be a great spring/summer album. Driving with the windows down blasting this on the way to lunch!
I know I’m becoming obsessed again. We don’t talk about the production and guitars on this album enough, they are unreal good.
Watch you in the morning come to life again Watch you every evening fall apart the same Anemic numbers ruling over you and me That’s the reason you refer to them as holding value
LPs No Bouquet The Season Nobody Likes a Quitter Including movement and the self titles ep, I’d put movement right behind the season and self titled last. Top 10 songs 1. Value 2. Room to talk (as someone who feels like they’ve wasted their musical ability, this song crushes) 3. The season 4. Orchestra 5. Let me Go 6. First contact 7. Trip/Wake 8. Lucky bastard 9. God Damn 10. ATX
I like No Bouquet a lot (got it on vinyl) but I personally think The Season (got the first pressing on Orange marble! Boo ya!) is still their best record. Also, Movements EP is right up there with Season too. So good.
I could rank either one the same at this point. I give NB the edge bc I adore the production so much. The guitar tones are so good on that records
Went on a nice drive yesterday and listened to No Bouquet. Went on a walk today and listened to Nobody likes a Quitter. I'd say these guys make great summer albums but I end up listening year round so I guess the qualifier isn't necessary haha.
I'm pretty weird with this band, sometimes I absolutely adore their albums and other times I'm pretty meh on them, not sure why or what triggers the change every couple times a year.
I haven’t been listening as long, so deciding between the 3 albums wouldn’t be accurate, but yeah, really like Quitter and No, and need to listen to more of their old stuff.
I think playing the season and no bouquet back to back it’s easy to see Nathan’s a much better singer now, but There’s a rawness to the early stuff that’s hard to replicate.
@RuckerPark - are they all reimagined in a similar mellow way? assuming yes but would be cool if they varied
They’re all reimagined in a similar mellow way, with more synths and and different avenues taken. My least favorite song on the album, Archives, is my favorite in here. Also Northport is awesome.
