I've never thought Matt's lyrics were particular nasty towards women. I can see potentially having a problem with "Radio." But I feel like he's always been more self-deprecating with his lyrics than anything.

 

Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't Radio have something to do with his father or grandfather ?

 

That's true, I kinda thought about that after I typed it. Even very visually grotesque lyrics like This Could Be Love are directed at himself.

 

Hmm, haven't heard anything about that. I've always just interpreted it as a break up song. The "waking up all alone, waking up so relieved" line and the chorus seem to be about that.

 

Hmm I maybe thinking of something else.
