The theme song to Rooster sounds too much like blink-182 because Travis Barker is drumming on it! haha
I didn't really like the production on the last album tbh even though I loved the songs themselves, I'm more than willing to see what Travis can bring to the table for these guys I also just love that we're evidently already getting a new album this year or early next year (presumably), I had gotten accustomed to long waits between albums for them by now
Yea, the last album was ruined for me by the weird production. More than excited to have Travis on board and hopefully getting another Agony & Irony.
I thought the production on the last album was fine if not lacking maybe a little punch. I think Travis will bring some vibrancy here that will be refreshing.
Not sure how anyone could come out of listening to Oblivion and think anything other than this is the best they’ve sounded in 15 years.
I think Surprise, Surprise is sneakily the best of the three, but any of the three would make me agree with your statement
Selfishly I want them on the new album, pending it doesn’t take away from new songs. I don’t like singles floating out there without a home lol.
blood sounds amazing, its like a bridge between their 90s prod and their 00s prod. it not being overproduced is a thing i appreciate since polish is a thing this band only uses sparingly. that is just myself, but for me, hearing songs like break and shake with me, plus all the cursed material years back set too high a standard for these songs to be their best in x amount of years. theyre solid though, bleeding out is my favorite i think for the travis album id want them to lean into like a more post punky thing kinda like how that song sorta is for them, rather than just leaning more pop punk like a lot of acts do with him. i didnt like the yellowcard album so the less like that the better
Agreed, I love the production of blood hair and eyeballs....it sounds rough in a way that feels like an updated version of classic trio. I personally think the ep is okay and the songs are catchy but Barker's production makes them sound a little more generic or something.
Yeah I also enjoyed the BH&E production, my only complaint is that there were a couple of times where the vocals got a little too quiet in the mix for me. I've said it before but my biggest complaint about Barker's production is how big, "Wall of Sound"-esque it is. I don't hate it, but it's also not my favorite. That being said, I thought the Oblivion singles/EP/whatever you want to call it sounded good
No complaints about BH&E or Cursed. BH&E is slightly quieter than other records but volume control exists
What BH&E lacks in the production department it makes up for with the songwriting. The songwriting on BH&E is brilliant and it makes it easy to overlook what I'd consider some of the weaker production of their career. But I think larger context matters. For example, the production is infinitely better than whatever was going on with the latest RA album. In the context of most music ever recorded & released, BH&E still sounds good. It's not some lofi black metal production job.
His voice sounds very good with Dan's on "Waiting By Myself" We saw dan at a solo acoustic show on Long Island back around that time period and we requested Waiting By Myself and he played it, and during the bridge I sang the harmony vocals that Hause sings on it perhaps a bit too loud (but luckily in key) and Dan looked over at me and said "thank you" lol
