Really want to compile the Oblivion, Bleeding Out, and Surprise Surprise singles into an EP in my Apple Music library, but I'm struggling with which album art to use because they're all rad. Leaning towards the Surprise Surprise art at the moment. Any thoughts?
Definitely sounds like he can hit Derek’s parts cleanly so I love that. I am annoyed with how hard he’s swinging though, the cow is already dead, Tosh! You don’t gotta kill it again! Lol
But yeah in case there’s any confusion there, he reposted that Matt Skiba post then in the next story said “okay Matt Skiba spilled the beans, I’m the new drummer for Alkaline Trio!”
The big downside of yet another drummer change is that it will make the setlists very predictable. In the Derek years, they would change things up a lot it felt like, but any new drummer is likely to stick to learning 20-25 songs and the setlists will be very repetitive. Although to be honest, I wouldn’t be surprised if Matt prefers a more consistent setlists these days too.
That will be funny for people who have no clue about it to show up and have Tosh be back there just RIPPING. I doubt he’s going to be a permanent replacement with all he has going on but super cool. It’s kind of like when Aaron Gillespie was in Paramore. New drummer just smashing the shit out of the drums. Really bummed atom came and went so fast, but I’m super hyped for the new record and would love to see a set with Tosh playing.
He's so good on those Trio covers it makes me wonder if they saw him and just flat out made a creative decision tbh. I like Atom but I love this guy already
Not a drummer, but there has to be a major difference between doing covers and bringing new ideas to the table? Do we think this new guy will have a creative license? Or will the parts be written for him?
Honestly I love Derek’s style so much, especially for them, I wish they were able to have Derek write and record for them and just have tosh or wherever else tour haha. I know that’s really unfair for Tosh but yeah
Saw Tosh play during Lady Gaga’s coachella set last year and was blown away, so sick he’s playing with them
I think Andy had to miss a show or two because of a family member passing so maybe Tosh filled in then? Just a hypothesis, I don't have evidence of this

Trio is certainly no stranger to side projects so I'm sure they'd have plenty of space for Tosh to stay busy. It sure seems Tosh loves the band so that's a good start.
Tosh did OLOC pod this year after he joined Lady Gaga. If anyone’s dying to know more about him. They cover everything extensively. He talks about the fill in shows with FOB, all his fill in spots, playing in front of a million people. He seems like a really grounded, highly motivated dude.
