Atom seemed super into the Travis sessions without it feeling like generic PR so I doubt it had anything to do with Travis
I haven't delved much into it but I def have seen comments that people just assume Travis wrote the drums or even played them on the Trio songs. I'm sure there's a bunch of Trio fans that would love to scapegoat Travis lol
Sure, the production is solid, but the songs themselves bore me tbh. It made me have that same apathetic vibe I had towards the Cursed era and parts of Shame too. I haven’t loved anything since Agony, but the last record was their strongest in a while (even if I didn’t like the production) so that got my hopes up for this new era, but these new tracks just don’t land at all for me ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Bummer about Atom though..
Cursed and Blood are like one of the strongest comebacks in recent memory after a very rough patch lmao
Blood sure but Cursed bores me aside from maybe 2-3 tracks tops and even those are just okay to me. Good production is good but if the songs don’t grab me then I don’t care.
i am a big cursed believer, i have one skip on that album and its a song that still has moments in it that i like which is more than i can say about a lot of the stuff in their down period. came out when trio were my favorite band in the world and blew my head off. matts strongest set of songs since like patent pending
This Addiction will always be their down period to me. Really didn’t connect with most of that album Shame was good and Cursed was probably better overall, but as a Dan fan I was a bit disappointed with his songs on there, so it hurts it a bit for me. But Matt was pretty damn good all over that album so it helped out a lot. Kind of the reverse of Shame where I loved Dan’s songs but Matt’s were hit or miss for me. Dan posted a video today of him listening to Smoking Popes and captioned it with “pre-studio tunes” so they’re still recording something it seems
The old Standard Oil political cartoon where it’s an octopus taking over everything but instead the head of the octopus is Travis Barker and the tentacles are all holding various names of pop punk bands
Fair. I suppose by this time next year he will be in FOB or potentially resurrect MCR into making an album. He is setting the precedent. These are interesting times.
Atom seemed like such a natural fit and an organic evolution of what Derek brought to the table. So it is a bummer that didn’t last. Excited for new tunes regardless. Travis does no wrong.
Checked in on the two main Trio FB groups last week, the Travis reactions are what you'd expect lol. I'm sure they're worse now
