came back to this tonight and yeah this is my shit.

also during my laying here not being able to fall asleep reading, apparently this dude was the guitarist for Lektron with Matt and is the current “Nameless Ghoul” rhythm guitarist for Ghost

 

The "issue" with Travis' drum sound people have is the relationship between the samples and the real kit. He adds a lot of reverb in post and really cranks up the high end so you kinda lose some of the natural room tone. I feel like usually the cymbals are what keeps sampled shells feeling natural but when you're processing the overheads as hard as he does it all tends to sound mega polished. Personally I think it's a cool sound and I've always weirdly enjoyed when Alkaline Trio has been slightly "overproduced".
