Atom would rule. I am sure he will at least fill in for a bit. More than seeing him play the hits live, I would LOVE to hear his style on AK3 recordings. The dude is relentless and he is the undisputed king of the floor tom.

Just as long as Jarrod Alexander doesn't replace him. He's a better fit for MCR than Alk3. When he filled in on the 2018 tour, the songs were just not played the same. Just something about Jarrod's style didn't mesh with Derek's.

A bummer for sure but not surprising. He’s been on and off on touring for a few years now.

Either way; he will be massively missed and yeah - Atom would rule.

 

I would imagine that he’s on the album. Just a hunch. Album is probably finished and good to set the record before touring and album announcements etc. Who knows though.

If it's Atom Willard replacing him lmao welcome Alk3 to being one of my favorite bands again, I can easily and definitely say he's my single favorite drummer in music.

 

Willard and Freese definitely are battling for who can be in the most bands

I remember discovering Derek tracked the drums and cymbals separately on Crimson. Totally blew my mind at the time.
