I saw Alkaline Trio last night for the first time since 2008. Did not disappoint. As a gap show on their Coheed tour, I was hoping to get a longer set from them and they absolutely delivered on that hope. Myrtle Beach opened with Private Eye, then played Mercy Me and Stupid Kid pretty early on in the set! Alkaline Trio Setlist at House of Blues, North Myrtle Beach
I don't know how to tell you this, but a Coheed fan group page on Facebook is absolutely not indicative of actual humans physically at a concert
They were awesome last night. Really odd / cool setlist. They sounded great. Was so stoked they opened with Warbain They also unfortunately swapped out All On Black for Mercy Me last night which makes sense but was definitely a bummer but expected Also as expected the least crowd reception I've ever seen for them
In Philly Matt dedicated Back To Hell to a heckler than proceeded to tell him to go fuck himself lol.
I guess a lot of Coheed fans might not like straight up pop punk a ton? I mean obviously there is some overlap but could see the proggy-adjacent folk not being into a sound like Trio’s?
I wouldn't call Alkaline Trio "straight up pop punk." Their style isn't the same as like... New Found Glory, for example.
I could easily see the proggy crowd not liking Trio and having some closed minded assholes in it unfortunately. An hour long set in front of a crowd that doesn’t care for you can be difficult, but I’m sure ALK3 is doing just fine and making good money by being on this tour.
Well yeah I meant more the song structures and instrumentation than the overall sound…like they were doing “3 powerchord songs” (not really but they weren’t exactly experimenting with chords and song structures early on at least haha) like Green Day/other bands labeled “pop punk” were except they were singing In dark tones about about self loathing and drinking and etc instead of masturbating or joyfully losing their minds haha. I can see that not really appealing to certain sections of the Coheed fan base I suppose.
yeah, i get what you're saying. Alkaline Trio doesn't have any big guitar solos so to that portion of the Coheed fanbase, I can see what they'd be bored by Alkaline Trio or whatever haha.

Matt was sick last night apparently, they did not sound good lol crowd was into it though, definitely 0 crowd issues for Michigan’s date
Thanks for posting this. I’ve listened to this record a ton this year and it’s cool they threw in a few extras there and had some decent mini interview questions dispersed throughout. Hope Dan revisits the Bygones again. I kind of feel like he’s recorded some covers with them now after that interview that haven’t been released.
