Brett’s been a very positive active voice for decades. Maybe they need to come up with a pre established morality clause of sorts.

Okay, so, there’s a lesson everyone eventually learns, so I’m gonna lay it out for you in case you skipped it.

People can say one thing, and behave in a different way. You can’t just say “he says all the right things” and take it at face value. That’s true of 100% of people.

Well, this is a shitshow.

The article about the album pointed me in the direction of this version of crawl from the Revival Tour that I had never heard. I've heard Dan do Crawl solo acoustic live before but having Brian Fallon on stage helping was cool.

 

All four bands have members who have allegations of sexual abuse and/or more. So now that you know that, and you know that they're all still listed on the 'members' page of Epitaph's website that links to stores that you can buy those bands' merch, are you able to simply say "hey, this Brett guy is maybe not infallible and he shouldn't be someone to point to as a 'good guy' in punk"? Or will you jump through a hundred hoops to defend him too?

It's truly, truly not hard to just accept that these people you look up to do fucked up things and they don't need you to, nor should you, defend them Online. Just because Brett's been a solid voice for many years (that's undeniable! He got a lot of kids into leftist politics through his music and that rocks) doesn't mean he can't also do shitty things.

 

I started this whole thing and at this point it's the same dumb stuff being said over and over again to the point where I don't even know if Skiba has been mentioned in the last page worths of posts lol. So yes, this is it.

I don't think .k. is gonna get it, and while I don't begrudge anyone continuing to try, I also don't think we gotta let the convo continue uninterrupted lol. He aint gonna get it now.

 

I deleted my post cause I didn't want to be the person to start another round of a different discussion ha. But I do think it's bad taste to jump in with a post promoting a member of the band with a dude who pals around with nazis while we're still dealing with people defending the dude who pals around with nazis.

And yes skiba has been consistently attempted to be resumed as the subject of discussion but this is density you just can't teach

 

I edited mine as well to add that I really don't think he's gonna get it lol. Like I said keep trying if you will but at this point I think we've reached the point in the convo where there's not much new to be said. I'm not telling people not to try anymore but I also felt I waited long enough to comment about that video because I noticed it like 4 hours ago and this is somehow still going haha.

 

I think I'm still grappling with the idea of causing such a trainwreck lol. I tried explaining why people have a problem with Skiba to them earlier in the calmest way possible and I just can't fathom how it's not getting through at this point. It has to be a conscious choice at this point.

 

I agree I don't think k's gonna get it but also like....if you saw/read what people have been talking about and criticizing the band for, it makes it look like you don't care about Skiba's bad shit/are fine ignoring it and promoting the band

 

Brett doesn't care as long as they keep bringing in that sweet sweet cash.

 

I'd agree if I hadn't posted early on in the conversation about why Skiba is problematic at best and why there's no need to really defend him and etc.
