What do non-Blink fans/big Alkaline Trio fans think of Blink's recent Grammy nomination? Are you stoked for Matt? Disappointed? I'm curious what the trio's fanbase thinks of it. Are they rooting for Blink to win it? Personally, I'm stoked for the band and especially Matt. I can't imagine how exciting it must be for him, specifically.
I'm super happy for him, fans on social media seem to be pretty stoked. My only issue is I think the media are going to treat him as a side member if they win.
I mean, I was bored by the album and truthfully don't care about Blink anymore, but I'm more stoked for Matt. Shit, if him being in Blink brings more people to listen to Trio, that's fine by me.
It's funny, I'm pretty underwhelmed as a whole by California but it influenced me to listen to Crimson and holy shit that's a good album
Crimson is sooooo good. I gotta put that on my phone cause sadly for some reason it's not on google music
Yeah I remember it being really polarizing when it came out. I was a big Crimson apologist but have cooled on it since. Not that I dislike it, but I don't rank it as high as i used to. But damn Dan and his demos were so strong that cycle.
Also what stands out to me most about that album is the more obvious effort to get some dual vocals on the songs. They had only rarely took advantage of the dual/duel vocals thing before Crimson, but they went "Old School Reasons" on three songs that I can think of off the top of my head. I wish theyd go back to harmozing for each other more than for themselves. Their voices are both unique and so different from each other, but the last few albums they seem to have just been doing more of their own harmonies instead of harmonizing for the other singer.
Yeah that album had me being one the big supporters of them using more dual vocals, because it worked so so good on small doses we got of it on This Could Be Love and 100 Stories I also love when Matt's bridge on Love Love Kiss Kiss kicks in on A&I
