See I don’t think it is... it wasn’t well promoted and they didn’t do a huge tour like they should have done! Come on he’s writing a fucking song with chainsmokers for Christ sake... (if Matt wasnt in blink, would he even think of doing that)?
I’m a hardcore fan of Blink and ALK3 but my love for blink has slowly died due to their “sound” and their sloppy writing and Feldman... I won’t go into it! But all I am saying is maybe Matt should invest more time into the band that made him, the band that gave US the Matt we all love and know! Hell I’d settle for another SEKRETS album over a blink album any day!

Revisited ITTC the other day. So god damn good

 

I got my Trio fix with the new album and getting to see them 4 times in the last year but I really hope it’s not another 4-5 years until they do something again

 

I mean they already had two years past when Matt joined blink, so it shouldn't be as long next time

 

Trio are great, but they don’t have to be his only thing. Matt’s has so many side projects, so why not do a side project that’s going to hugely profitable and probably a lot of fun. The guys in Alk3 all have side projects, and I mean there is a lot of personal issues they’ve been open about too. Blink is band of guys who are similar in age, number of members, punk roots, shared writing and vocal duties, each has a history with Jerry Finn, and so many other things.

I don’t Trio is going to get any bigger then they are now. It’s a good safety net for Matt. It’s probably also fun to write for different projects. He was definitely featured more on California than I expected. Considering it was a Blink 182 rebut part II,I can say I was pleased. I get some people are not. For those folks, I would think they would wait one more album before writing them off. The guys are only going to get more comfortable together as they go.

 

Do you that will depend on what Blink’s up to or the state of the guys in Alk3? I know Derek’s been taking off time for personal reasons according to the band. Maybe they will keep busy with Blink, solo, if the Damned Things is a thing until all 3 guys are ready.

 

Yeah Matt always has done side stuff, only difference is it's a major one now that he's not the primary writer for and I firmly believe his Trio songs got better on this record cause all his stuff in his distinct style will be saved for Trio (I've loved more of his Sekrets work than his Trio songs the previous 3 albums)

 

I honestly love the variety from Matt. It’s not like any of it is extremely different, but in a good way. I’ll always associate him as Trio, but there are some solo, Sekrets, and Blink stuff that I love too.

 

Can also just enjoy him in all of his projects. I love Matt in blink, and alkaline. Viva la Skiba.

That Alk 3 album barely sold. Getting mad at the band for not ‘investing’ when people don’t buy their music is hard.

 

It's pretty crazy that it was top 10 in sales but that meant nothing lol. I really thought blink would help it.

Sure they do pretty good touring but nobody can blame Matt, I wouldn't one bit even if I hated blink.

 

Trio never really sold many albums, it's never bothered me much tbh.

 

I’m sure it helped a little bit but the numbers probably don’t show that

 

I thought it was a big deal when Rolling Stone did a piece on the on the band and album.

 

I'm also tired of this narrative that Matt is tired of the Trio or he doesn't care anymore. He just put out some of his best work with the Trio and to say they got lazy with the promotion of the album is a bit silly. They obviously wanted to keep things a surprise, not mention him and Dan seem tight as ever. Trio is still and will always be Matts baby. If he truly didn't give a shit he would have just called it quits with the Trio.

I don’t think it’s fair to say Matt doesn’t care about Trio anymore but it’s clear that blink is and has been his number 1 priority since he joined the band.

 

It was never in the top 10, I’m pretty sure the debut position was 68 or something like that

 

Sales plus streaming you're right yeah, but I just meant straight album sales which doesn't count streaming and is basically irrelevant now lol.
