I believe it was back before the Deluxe album was released that in an interview one of the 3 guys said the plan was to get back into the studio at the end of the year.
Just found about the past live bundle and the band was my favorite throughout high school and college but been out of the loop for the last couple of releases and haven’t listened to the band much. Ended up pre-ordering my three favorite albums (goddamnit, catch fire, and infirmary) for nostalgia’s sake.
I went with these and the DVD. Mainly because these albums mean the most to me/have the coolest looking artwork, in my opinion. OBVI Crimson and FHTI mean a lot too, but the album art doesn't interest me and I already have those and MICF on vinyl so whatever, ha.
I don’t know if this is meaningful or just coincidence, but it seemed like Matt cleaned up his IG a bit when Blink was going full steam, in regards to his darker interests, that is. It definitely seems like he’s back to posting whatever he wants without fear of alienating anyone.
Idk I never got a sense of him censoring himself. I think he's just less busy. Lol looking through, last May he posted a pic of a pentagram and someone commented "wow and all of a sudden I don't want you in blink anymore" haha
I thought these releases were the actual live recordings from the Past Live event. Or is it the studio albums with different artwork?
I've been relistening to their catalogue lately, and I can finally rank the albums. Agony & Irony My Shame Is True Crimson From Here to Infirmary Good Mourning This Addiction Maybe I'll Catch Fire Goddamnit Sorry old school lovers. I just think they sound so much better with a more polished sound. Their experimentation was always something I loved, and the addition of piano and strings in some of the newer songs. Also, both Matt's and Dan's voices just keep getting better. Even though I prefer Matt on vocals, I think my all time favorite songs of theirs are In Vein and I'm Only Here to Disappoint.
Haha yeah I saw several Blink fans freaking out on there. I guess they’ve done zero research into Matt’s past material.
Yup. They’re the live versions. I don't have the studio version vinyls, so I figured I'd purchase the Past Live version instead.
I can agree with you. As much as I love Maybe I'll Catch Fire and From Here to Infirmary sometimes the production gets to me. I naturally find myself listening to Good Mourning and Agony & Irony forward the most.
MICF remains my favorite from a subjectively nostalgic point of view, as it was a staple in my car on weekend nights in high school.
I think Matt’s songs on MICF are super strong. Keep ‘Em Coming is a terrific opener, Madam Me, Sleepyhead, and Tuck Me In are perfect “Dark Trio” songs, and Fuck You Aurora and Radio are classics. But yeah, I love that album a lot so I’m biased.
Ya, I actually like This Addiction way more than Goddammit haha. TA gets a lot of flack and I get it. Its a quirky ass album. I love that about it though. Especially Dan's songs on the album.
There's not a song on MICF I don't love. Matt or Dan. Weak is crazy. All Matt's weaker stuff is on Agony and This Addiction. There is such a drop lyrically for Matt to me after Crimson. I don't dislike a Trio album don't get me wrong but man lol
I thought Matt was about as strong on A&I as he was on Crimson. His lyrics started getting repetitive and a bit simple starting with Crimson, but I thought he was relatively strong on both albums. Only real weak spots from him on either album IMO were Fall Victim, You’re Neck, and Live Young, Die Fast. Into the Night is meh too, but I think I judge it harshly because it’s an album closer.
