Well, it looks like Interpunk spilled the beans. Alkaline Trio will release their new album, Is This Thing Cursed?, on August 31st via Epitaph Records. The lead single “Blackbird” is up on streaming services in places like Brazil. My guess is it hits everywhere shortly. I’ll update this post with more information as it comes in but our forums will probably be first to the news if you want up-to-the-minute information.

    Oh, and holy fucking shit.

Well, this is way better than anticipated. The songwriting here is top-notch. This is going to rip live.

Not sure how I feel about the production, though... The guitars feel a bit quieter/lower in the mix than usual?

Really enjoy it, but the mix is strange. I can’t figure it out...

This might be the one to get me into Alkaline Trio. I always felt late to the party.

I was going to say something about the mix. It’s a bit polished. But I’ve listened to it four times in a row and I don’t give a fuck anymore.

    God damn this bangs.

Woah. If you like this. I want to say check out Good Mourning. It’s my favourite Alkaline album, and feels the most like this, just darker.

Matt Skiba is amazing, between all the recent work he’s done with blink-182 (touring, new album) he still has time for alkaline trio tour and a new cd. Dude is on top of the world right now, hopefully he doesn’t run himself dry though.

Well these gloomy harmonies are probably what makes Matt sound so appealing, the song is really good.
