He posed for some photos with questionable people and had nazi like symbols in it. He also supposedly has a tattoo that’s somehow nazi adjacent. At the time he was reading books on WWII and was really into that. It was 3 million years ago and like five people on this site still like to bash him for it. It was a poor decision. But I feel like I know the way Matt and Dan like to work with pushing the envelope, and they seem to be pretty outspokenly anti-facist so for me personally it’s water under the bridge. People can be into questionable issues in a historical sense and it shouldn’t define them as a person. And if you wanna know what Matt’s take is on facism in the USA just listen to I Can’t Believe

yeah I was gonna say, I think they're making the same point haha. I Can't Believe is very clearly anti-trump/anti-fascism song. Matt likes nazi symbols or at least did for a time, most notedly I think it was the totenkopf on some art he did/drew/etc, which I really don't think it means he's a fan of nazis. But that plus his association with that Douglas P guy had people raising eyebrows IIRC.

Also in my post I said he’s made some bad decisions. I’ve never let him off the hook, but it’s not like he’s ever come out and defended this stuff. So it’s quite possible he realizes himself that it was dumb and a bridge too far. Who knows for sure, but it’s not enough to make me not wanna listen to their songs. For some people it is and that’s okay. The only annoying thing is coming into these threads and announcing your disdain every time this band does something. I get it you hate him can you please move along?
I hope the production on these is better that the last record. It’s sounded kinda muddy, muffled, something. Great songs but they sound blah.
