To be fair, there has been a cold strain running rampant in the midwest the past 3 weeks or so. I had a week long bout of it.
same but last week for me, i was sick saturday through thursday, it suuuuucked! im sure the weather didn't help
"Today, what is the purpose of Alkaline Trio to you? " "To show people a good time. It's that simple." My man!
this is the best they have sounded in over a decade. everything about this cycle seems different in all the best possible ways. i love it.
That was great. Bad Time is legitimately one of their best songs ever which at this point in their career is pretty awesome. Excited to hear the rest of the album soon.
Love to see Atom adding his own flourishes to Derek's already great parts, particularly the fill at 2:13. Kick drumhead looks sick too!
I could watch drum cams of Atom on a 24/7 loop. Motherfucker looks like he's having the time of his life every time he plays.
He's a big inspiration to my own playing and stage presence. Absolutely love everything that dude brings to any project.
I have to play Demon and Division every time I roll through Chicago. I was working at Riotfest the last time AK3 played and it was glorious.
Snagged tickets to the London show this morning. I’ve lost count of many times I’ve seen them, but I cannot wait to hear these new songs live.
"We easily had an album's worth of songs" Sheesh! I hope we get those eventually. I loved Is This Thing Cursed. Very happy they wrote a record together in person and the consensus is it's their best in years, but it would be rad to get those songs. Also it seemed really important to the band that Derek performed on this album but I am chomping at the bit to get a full record with Atom playing the parts. He is crushing live, but he has a style that is so iconic within the scene.
Loved the performance!! Also curious if Matt has any backing tracks on his guitar or if they have a "secret" guitar player like they did back in the Good Mourning / Crimson era. Or he might have a pedal that makes it feel fuller and has a loop or something.
There’s definitely a backing rhythm guitar track on that performance, no clue if it’s live or not though
My first Trio show was 2006 or 7 and I've maintained since then that they should really have a second guitarist tucked cosy away adding some of the extra meat n flourishes found on records. Backing tracks are absolutely fine if they're simple but they aren't human - this band can get scrappy (in a good way) live and sometimes you really need someone feelin that on stage. Edit: Kimmel performance is solid. Atom is kicking the shit out of those drums.
They were so good in September. Not surprised they're firing on all cylinders. Can't wait for Friday.
