nothing very explicit off the top of my head. Like Aliens 3 was more dog like, and the avp movies had the alien/predator one, but otherwise the xenomorphs have been relatively xenomorphic.
Well if you think about it, Aliens introduced the queen and Resurrection introduced a humanoid variant. And then Prometheus and Covenant were both proto versions.
The lore is that the xenomorph takes on some of the properties of the host that it came from, so the famous xenomorph is a human variety and the dog one was in 3. They should have one implanted in a dinosaur.
weirdly in the (superior) assembly cut of 3 it's born from an ox. no clue why they changed it to a dog in the theatrical
Man. Alien theatrical re-release was so good. Nothing special about it other than seeing one of the best ever on the big screen, probably my favorite viewing since my first. I always say I prefer Aliens, but this one gave that feeling a run for its money. Such an incredibly detailed film in so many ways.
I would love to see Aliens on the big screen too. Big action movie like that, probably looks and sounds awesome
i'd see it regardless, but the filmbros would only go if it's not the new transfer, lmao (but fuck them, i'd go regardless)
I would have loved to have been around to see it be released in the 80s, a 7 year wait and you get one of the best action movies ever - especially after a widely publicized tumultuous production
I mean the transfer is really in your face, I’m not one to know much about it but it’s extremely clean and detailed, especially compared to how great the Alien 4K looks.
i've mostly skimmed through the transfer (i check all my discs for errors/skips when i get them by fast-forwarding through the film), but even if it's more polished and detailed with the DNR, it still looks fine to me. not saying it's a bad thing. would it have been cool if James Cameron handled the transfer differently? sure, and there are probably really legitimate critiques to levy against his restoration methods, especially for those who have a really good eye for detail and comparison between film transfers (i don't). but on my end, it's not that jarring of an experience to me. the critique was mainly about how a subset of viewers are endlessly griping and complaining about how much they hate the transfer like it's the most egregious sin (which i've see ad nauseum on the blu-ray.com forums). if someone prefers the look of the original transfer, by all means, stick with that version if you have a copy. i'd see a theatrical rerelease regardless of what it looks like because i love the movie.
I tried to Google this and the most I found was a throwaway note in an article that I guess the ox wasn't cooperating and so they switched to a dog out of necessity?
I hope I’m not over hyping myself on this I just hope the guy understands the value of visceral shock value to this series. Not only that but we need lots of it. In honor of this I’ve come up with some gruesome kill ideas: 1. getting swarmed by a large group of facehuggers. maybe somehow multiple facehuggers can use one person as a host. that could result in some disgusting imagery. 2. getting impaled by a xeno tail 3. maybe they could have one or multiple characters just abruptly get chest bursted that the audience didn’t know got facehugged 4. maybe baby xeno(s) eat people from the inside out instead of chest bursting 5. brain burster 6. ass burster 7. getting melted by acid blood
big potential spoilers ahead, but the only thing i think they've hinted at is a facehugger gets stuck on someone and they try prying it off with detrimental results, i.e. a ripped off face. i'm sure it'll work out somehow.
