I mean I actually think the similarities between this and Alien are being wildly overstated at this point.
Even if they age ignoring the prequels, it is clear in Alien that they haven't seen anything like that before. What a strange idea for a show.
Okay. I guess it doesn't have to retcon that completely. After all, no one said David was doing anything new. For all we know, his experiments were just reproducing results that might have been around for centuries.
"They" being the space truckers. It's pretty clear Weyland-Yutani knew something; that was the whole point.
that's my hope. despite the fact that i'm less interested in David's plot arc, i definitely don't want them to retcon those films entirely. maybe the series will recontextualize them.
I really liked this movie, and had a blast with it, but I never once felt like it was scary or horror. Weird vibe from it in that regard. Especially when there is gore and tension.
Holy shit I've seen Resurrection a ton and only just watched Breaking Bad for the first time a couple years ago, and somehow never realized until just now as it's playing on FX and hearing him shout about how Call is a robot that the soldier is Tuco lol. Crazy.
It also funny because I wasn’t even looking at the Tv, I just heard him scream “oh man!” Or something like that and I was like wait..that voice sounds familiar. Then looked up and was like oh shit yeah that is Tuco lol
The dumbest part of Resurrection by far is the guy who sacrifices himself because a dead alien is hanging on to his shoe.
aside from the dumb references to past films I thought this was pretty great. Alien Aliens Prometheus Covenant Resurrection Romulus Alien³ would probably be my ranking but I still really like Alien³.
Was immediately struggling with the tone and insane editing and then the power went out, so I don't think it was meant to be Will finish it tomorrow, but I think AvP is the wayyyyy better popcorn movie
I normally don't really care about trailers, but it is borderline anti-art to show that the buzzcut girl had the alien inside of her. There are so many shots that they could use and you completely step on the question of whether or not the facehugger had finished the process when they use the rod to get it off her.
Yeah they very easily could've shown the x-ray scanner thing in the trailer when they first pick it up and play with it on her arm. That would've introduced the tech and made us wonder how else it could be used in the movie.
It might sound wrong but there are going to be people in your audience that have never seen an Alien movie and do not understand the life cycle of the organism. Why ruin it for them? Even if you know the story we have never seen a facehugger interrupted before, so there is still that mystery there. It isn't the only film that does this, but a big part of the series is supposed to be the fear of the unknown but instead you are just waiting for it to happen.
the bale movie is one of the worst movies I can remember seeing in a theater. i haven't bothered with them since.
