I also did not like Dune 2 much but whatever! Maybe Romulus will be the key to Ridley getting to finish his David trilogy, I think it’s in play with this doing really well.
Finished my rewatch of Covenant yesterday (with Prometheus the day before). Think I like Prometheus more, but I'm not sure why. Covenant just seemed bleak AF, more than I was comfortable with
i think i'm in the same camp here. i like both films (LOVE Prometheus), but something about Covenant has just felt a tiny bit too dismal.
Also, not sure what Ridley Scott has on his plate for the next few years, but if Romulus ends up doing pretty well, and the TV show does well too, I bet the studios would be more willing to finance the 3rd prequel movie for Ridley
Tbf I fucking hate ALL of these full-CGI xenomorphs (maybe that’s why I didn’t love it the first time out)
There is no scenario where they finance a third Prometheus film after Romulus. That wouldn't make any sense.
We will probably get a new cast bumping into a CGI Ripley on another spaceship about to malfunction or crash or something.
fede’s big pic interview didn’t seem to indicate there were any plans for a sequel but they’re obviously going to do another alien movie. there doesn’t need to be deep serialization movie to movie. just give the keys to another interesting director and make a chestbuster go brrrrr
They could always just work Ridley’s story into a sequel somehow. It’s not like Romulus ignored those movies. So even though Ridley getting another movie is unlikely, that doesn’t mean we still can’t get the rest of the story.
Also Fassbender really should’ve been in this instead. It could’ve set that possibility up nicely and we wouldn’t have to witness that monstrosity
The stupid plane fight scene didn’t bother me as much this time around. But this was…fine. Not bad or great. Hate that they just waste that entire planet of engineers right off the bat - I’m most interested in them. Love how they end with David though - really deserves some kind of conclusion/resolution. Def prefer Prometheus still to this. Def think I prefer Romulus to this as well.
