I think the conundrum of “are they even still those kids” or just memories uploaded to a cloud is super interessante
Watching this now. First episode didn't really hook me too much, but it looks amazing visually. Hard to believe this is a cable TV show. I hear the first one is a bit slow, so continuing onto the second episode now Glad I checked that this is apparently in 4K Dolby Vision on D+ but only 1080p HD in the Hulu app
All caught up. Good shit. I wasn't sold right away, but now I can't wait for this weeks episode. Really curious to see how Wendy's connection to the Xenomorphs grows over time Also, calling it now, that eyeball alien is totally gonna take over Boy at some point
Kirsh is 100% putting the Ocellus into Boy Genius' eyesocket this show has serious ups and downs but its got me on a huge Alien kick. trying to find those fanedits of Prometheus/Covenant which put all the deleted scenes back in to watch tonight
LOOK, NEVERLAND IS A BIG PLACE, SURELY THEY DIDN'T PUT ALL DANGEROUS SPECIMENS IN ONE CENTRAL LOCATION
fun episode, but idk. kinda just made me want to watch Alien/remember how big those shoes are to fill this gotta be the slowest/dumbest xeno ever onscreen, I almost wish they'd just stuck to the weird eyeball monster as the main villain instead
Good episode but yeah. It was weird seeing the Xeno right next to our girl and knocked her on the ass. Then proceeded to get out ran by her. Just weird writing. Then that crew would make the Prometheus crew blush. The eyeball monster continues to be interesting, and the tick spraying eggs in someone’s water is super fucked up. Marrows motivations now make more sense and I don’t blame him at all now for sealing her out lol.
Teng is a baffling character. Turns out he isn't a synth, and is just some creepy dude. Serves no purpose other than to be a red herring. Also, making the saboteur some background character made it much less impactful than if it were one of the characters the episode actually focused on. Eyeball monster is my favorite alien in this, though. Give me more of it. I can't tell if it was trying to help the humans, or just protect its food from other predators.
yeah hated that the saboteur was a guy we'd never seen, that's like a fundamental thing you don't do writing a mystery lol. the Xeno starting right behind the captain and bounding after her on all fours but she somehow still outran it was nonsense too. then it gets parkour grappled by a tiny Scotsman and struggles to throw him off for like a minute? very silly stuff props to the actor who played Teng though, he was scarier than any alien in this show so far
That was interesting though the eyeball monster tapping the glass to warn her. Like what was it’s motivation there.
I've seen a few people say that but I read it as Ocellus distracting her deliberately so the ticks could do their thing in the water bottle
So who was the creepy dude watching and how did he die? I miss so much watching this late at night and dozing off
Love the set design in this episode. This crew is so damn stupid though. I don't know if they needed a saboteur when the scientist bringing open containers/food in the lab and not making sure the alien cells were locked resulted in like 4 deaths.
Right? They wouldn't have made it back even without the sabotage. I think they wanted you to focus on Boy Kavalier being behind it more than which specific crew member, but I agree. I thought it was distracting her at first, but the idea it was warning her is really interesting. Maybe it was trying to break out because it knew the crew was incompetent and it wanted to pull a Captain Sully and save everyone! Hawley said they used plans of the Nostromo to help make it look identical. I love how well it worked!
I saw someone on Reddit saying that Hawley confirmed on the post episode podcast that the eye alien was distracting the scientist and not trying to save her
That would have been a cool idea, but hard to see how puling eyeballs out is beneficial to the humans haha. The intriguing surprise to me in this one was that the eye alien is an antagonist to xenomorphs. I'm super excited to see how that plays out. (Even if the human vessel feels like it should still have no chance against a xenomorph. That matchup felt a touch off, to be sure)
Ok ok so then if the eye ball monster got inside a hybrid then that WOULD be a serious threat to a Xeno then.
