Just excellent television. I love everything they’re doing. The actor who plays Harrow steals every scene.
Legitimately my only complaint thus far is on Hulu at least there isn’t a “next time on…” so I can see what they’re cooking up next week.
This show has me locked in every week like Shogun did last year. Thanks for consistently delivering appointment television FX.
A few peeves but this is a beautifully made show. Love the pacing, the quality, I'm very impressed with the level of care given to this. Cast is amazing especially under the complex premise, and having Olyphant on board in a great role is also doing a lot for me.
Just finished episode 2, and really enjoying it. Fits right into the universe and aesthetic of the best of this franchise. Also the Reggie Jackson baseball scene in E02 proved not only does Ice Age exist in this universe, but BASEketball also exists in this universe, as I'm assuming that ball is from one of the first 2 home runs from 1977. Joe Cooper caught the third.
It's funny that when they discovered Wendy could hear the aliens communicating they didn’t immediately try to adjust the hearing of any of the other hybrids. I know she's Boy Kavalier's favorite, but you'd think he'd want as much of (what he perceives as) a good thing as possible. I like how this episode fleshed out more of the potential risks that the hybrids can cause. Obviously Prodigy isn't around by the time the Nostromo lands on LV426, but it's just as likely their hybrids are responsible as that lab full of specimens. Next week's episode is about what actually happened on the Maginot, and I'm so curious!
What is Kavalier doing narrating Peter Pan into the mic? Is the implication that is being broadcast to the "kids" every night?
I would say that this is shaping up to be Disney's best franchise tie-in TV series since Andor at least.
Thinking more about the opening crawl laying out the three choices of humanity's future destiny: Cyborgs, Synths, or Hybrids. From the future set installments we already know the answer to who eventually comes out top there, it's the Synths. Which makes Kirsh the most interesting character here. Knowing the history in Alien films of Synths being duplicitous I am definitely watching his actions very closely.
I do find myself wanting more fast-paced alien action, but I also know the middle stuff here it’s important for the overall story, even if I found it a bit plodding at times.
good episode, I feel like it's clicking more with me now that the kids kind of each have a Thing to do in the plot. also 4 episodes in I finally know their names lmao it might’ve been explained and I missed it but do we know how Morrow and Slightly are just able to communicate over distance like that?
