Just found out the actress that plays Wendy is Kyle Chandler's daughter. Big year for nepo babies. Makes me think of what a surprise Bryan Cranston's daughter was in The Pitt. I hope this girl brings it too.
she's really great in this so far, really strong cast definitely some stuff I'm not loving right now, the designs and CGI for the aliens feels pretty uninspired which is a bummer in a show like this. not convinced by this version of the Xenomorph either, feel like it's spending too much time posing for the camera and not enough just being a brutal killer. will keep watching though definitely more good Hawley than bad Hawley so far
I just realised the boy genius is Wiley from Atlanta, no wonder his weird little goblin energy was so familiar
Not enough time being a brutal killer?? That thing brutally killed over a dozen people so far! For only the 2nd episode in a potential multi-season show, I feel like we got treated pretty well so far.
maybe it's the multiple implausible escapes from Joe (and I'm assuming he'll somehow survive the end of this episode too lol) but it's lowering the stakes for me a bit. in general just feels like they're overthinking it for me like that scene with the xeno pretending to be the art piece/sculpture. cool for the audience undoubtedly but doesn't really feel like how they usually hunt imo
A big piece of the entire first film is how the xeno can be hiding anywhere in plain sight with the ships design. I will give you the art piece/sculpture bit was a little ham fisted but it's not out of line with what we've seen before..
I kinda have a working theory of where this could be eventually headed Boy Kavalier transfers a Xeno's mind into a synth. Creating an ultra aggressive alien-synthetic hybrid
I'm waiting for the stakes to get turned up on a potential xenomorph outbreak. It's tricky when they don't know what it is yet to feel the pressure of containment. But it's cool enough so far, interested to see how they develop it.
my longstanding prediction for this show has been that there would be a scene where they've essentially contained the Xenomorph and a billionaire (or in the case of the show, a trillionaire) brings it into a board room to show investors how it could be a viable bioweapon or boost a company's bottom line - only for it to break free and kill everyone in the room. not sure if that's gonna happen (since we just had a scene where it killed all those rich people at that party), and it might be too on the nose, but it'd be really funny if it did happen.
I cut a bunch of these, this one touches on production design a bit but there’s a long one all about it coming sometime. Best thing about the show probably
Finished episode 2, still feeling this is in the “good but not great” territory but I will say I love the gore we got in episode 2. Questionable CGI at times though
