i haven't watched it myself yet (generally don't go for fanedits), but there's apparently a fanedit of Alien³ that tried to clean up some of the effects and tie together the separate narrative elements from both versions. more info (and ways to gain access) here: A34K

An inconsequential shift as the continents drift.

there are some pretty superb fanedits for most of the Alien films I will say

I've watched a bunch of fanedits for other films (none for any Alien movies) and I've enjoyed a lot of them, but they almost always feel like exactly what they are - someone else going in and messing with a movie after the fact

I usually try them out for something that has aspects that I enjoy but are fundamentally flawed, like The Hobbit movies from Peter Jackson

the edits of Prometheus and Covenant that add back in a lot of the deleted scenes are to me basically the definition of "something that has aspects that I enjoy but are fundamentally flawed" haha

oh yeah, I can definitely see that - it's just been such a long time since I've seen Alien³. I'm pretty sure the rough edit that I saw was actually contained in a big special addition DVD box set that I had back in the day. I swear it was an official release but it had rough parts in it.

i generally only watch the Assembly Cut that came on the Alien³ Blu-ray, but i'm aware of the differences between both versions
