i haven't watched it myself yet (generally don't go for fanedits), but there's apparently a fanedit of Alien³ that tried to clean up some of the effects and tie together the separate narrative elements from both versions. more info (and ways to gain access) here: A34K
I've watched a bunch of fanedits for other films (none for any Alien movies) and I've enjoyed a lot of them, but they almost always feel like exactly what they are - someone else going in and messing with a movie after the fact I usually try them out for something that has aspects that I enjoy but are fundamentally flawed, like The Hobbit movies from Peter Jackson
the edits of Prometheus and Covenant that add back in a lot of the deleted scenes are to me basically the definition of "something that has aspects that I enjoy but are fundamentally flawed" haha
oh yeah, I can definitely see that - it's just been such a long time since I've seen Alien³. I'm pretty sure the rough edit that I saw was actually contained in a big special addition DVD box set that I had back in the day. I swear it was an official release but it had rough parts in it.
i generally only watch the Assembly Cut that came on the Alien³ Blu-ray, but i'm aware of the differences between both versions
Sigourney Weaver Reveals Her Take on 'Alien: Earth' After Starring in Movie Franchise (Exclusive) the queen has spoken
Shit's getting real! Poor Arthur. Why does it have to happen to one of the only good people in this damn place haha
Episode opens with that giant nest thing in the corner and I'm like NOPE. Every episode has been super tense and this wasn't any different. Song choices are on point too! Timothy Olyphant is killing it.
I for some reason assumed this was a miniseries type deal but apparently Hawley wants it to go 5-6 seasons? pretty curious if there's gonna be enough material to keep it interesting that long
Lots of dumb things happened in last night's episode to move the plot forward but that's basically a theme in the series at this point (not just the TV show but the films too) still massively enjoying it and bummed there's only two episodes left.
I could see a season 2 showing the aftermath on Earth after the aliens inevitably escape, but anything beyond that seems... Stretched out haha
Yeah ... I think the show would be scarier and more compelling if aliens were escaping and killing people in spite of certain characters' competence, but instead, characters keep doing ridiculously stupid, incompetent shit that makes things less impactful to me haha
At first I was like haha! Stupid aliens, he doesn't have blood for you to suck! Then that happened........
