Can't say I know what that means! Lol

 

This had some silly things happening on ship with the crew but once that needle drop kicks in at the end of the episode I’m all “hell yeah” and don’t care about minor quibbles lol

 

Biggest criticism I have so far is that the Xeno is not consistent - like how did it not catch up to Zaveri in that chase scene come on!

 

Alien 3 gets an unfair rap. It's not as good as other Aliens but it's worth watching.

I just finished a series rewatch (except Resurrection even I don't hate myself enough to watch that again) and Alien 3 SE just continues to creep up in my rankings. just a grimy, nasty black comedy of a film with maybe Sigourney's best performance. up there with the original in terms of how good the supporting cast is too, just fantastic character actors all round with some great material - "this is rumour control, these are the facts" is one of the best lines in an Alien movie

 

Would gladly rewatch resurrection over 3 again.

 

³ is a hard watch, but not bad. Resurrection isn't necessarily good by any means, but i can get down with how campy it is. and the gore is pretty damn fun.

 

The water section in Resurrection is cool

 

I wasn't aware that there was an official Special Edition of 3 - the only thing even close that I had seen was an unofficial one that someone cut together I think from the working prints, where some of the sound was really crappy and I believe it even had unfinished effects. I'm definitely going to have to watch the real special edition as soon possible if its a real thing. I haven't watched it in years, but I always enjoyed it even if it was flawed.

 

they're technically both official, the Assembly Cut was put together by one of the editors who worked on the original for a box set in 2003. it did have some unfinished scenes and muffled dialogue but they had basically no budget to finish it properly

the Special Edition is from 2010 or something when they put that box set on blu-ray, it's the same cut with finished effects and re-recorded dialogue for those scenes. basically the definitive edition of 3 imo

 

I'll definitely have to check that out - I remember thinking it was really cool, but it didn't feel like an actual movie with all of the unfinished stuff

 

Just watched 3. My least favorite so far. I know it was 92 but that cgi… just give me the guy in the suit

there isn't actually much CGI in 3, it's a rod puppet they added motion blur on for some scenes

hard to just do a guy in a suit when it's bipedal and runs like a dog

 

I haven't revisited it in years, but I remember even as a young kid I realized that it wasn't as good as the first two, but it still had a lot going for it. and that cast is stacked! it's too bad Fincher has sworn off it and says nobody hates it more than him, because I can't help but feel like if he made an official director's cut out of all the material available (or some more!) than we'd have an amazing Alien trilogy from three incredible filmmakers where each movie has a pretty different feel.

 

Missed some of the discussion on it maybe but i just caught up and ep 5 ruled hard

There’s a scene where it’s running on the ceiling and it’s just the worst. I never saw it back then and I’m not sure if this is a different version on Hulu but it almost looks like they went back and tried to correct it or something it just really stands out. Definitely just a product of its time. Also, the scene of Ripley’s choice at the end… just didn’t hold up graphically.

 

Best surprise for me for sure. Wish we had gotten more
