I gotta say, while I am really enjoying this show, the writing feels pretty sloppy for a Hawley show compared to his other work like Fargo and Legion haha. At least this most recent episode.
I didn't think season 2 of Legion was bad, but fair, I did give up on 3 and never finished it haha I also did not like Fargo S4
Legion had one perfect season and the rest was roughhh. he's talented but super inconsistent imo I gotta say I rewatched Prometheus tonight and the A/B was not super favourable to this show. just liked the whole vibe and ideas in that movie a lot more than these, although I appreciate both trying to do something different with the franchise. forever a bummer that Covenant torpedoed every good idea in Prometheus and they'll never finish that trilogy
I've only watched Alien, Aliens, and Romulus. And I think the first AVP way back in high school with friends, but I don't remember like anything about it. Any of the other movies worth watching? Is Prometheus worth it?
whoops I'm sleepy lol *Alien* 3 (moreso the special edition but the theatrical is still underrated) is good
Definitely wanna check it out. I am already aware that apparently Ripley ends up having an alien inside her when they unfreeze her from cryo which seems to contradict this episode since a chest buster clearly came out of that dude in cryo so I'm curious if I misunderstood that spoiler of the movie or not
I did a rewatch of Alien 3 this weekend and thought it was pretty bad and forgettable tbh. The set up still feels like a slap in the face to the previous two films which is the biggest and most obvious gripe. Probably my least favorite in the franchise (I still haven't watched Resurrection). All the newer ones from Prometheus through Romulus are for sure worth a watch if you haven't seen them. I personally love Prometheus even if it has its fair share of problems.
Dumb question since I haven't pieced the full Alien universe timeline together, but how does the crew in this episode know to call it a "xenomorph" when they are discussing things in the med bay before they've seen it? Is it because xenomorphs are a known species to humans already by that point in the timeline? which...i think is 50+ years after the ship took off.
Nitpicky ass thread, episode was fucking awesome Idunno how much yall go out in public or interact with people, but most of our fellow humans are morons that make the crew on that ship look like geniuses reminder that more than half of the US voted for Donald Trump…..twice. xeno “power level” is a semi valid complaint but It’s easy to just say it was pretty young , still growing, maybe they aren’t all equally strong/fast etc etc
They foreshadowed it being BK really hard last week, but that probably means it won't be him because Hawley loves a red herring. I feel like some of the dialog is intentionally explanatory to excess in order to get every viewer up to speed, even if this is their first Alien media. This is the first time anyone has actually used the Xenomorph name onscreen, if memory serves.
Boy I sure hope that scientists working in the hot zone of the infectious disease ward at the CDC aren't routinely taking their head-to-toe covering off just to casually eat doritos and drink water while fucking around with samples of the bubonic plague, surgeons cutting people open without face masks on, etc. but idk, who knows these days lol
I think in any job you probably get desensitized somewhat lol. Like I handle dirty money all day and I’m not proud to admit how often I’ll grab some food to take a bite of real quick in between and not even so much as sanitize my hands. Probably related but I’m sick right now
