These 2 songs have some real good Layne-era AIC vibes. I'm very excited for this album.

    Nice

  6. Didn't really get into the last album but both new singles are more immediate for some reason. Summer is always a perfect time for Cantrell's sludgy riffs.

Yeah, this is great. Amazing how consistent this band has been even after losing Layne.

Albums slays, probably the best of these three. Also it seems like they tried a lot more stuff in major keys this time around

Also drone has to be one of the best songs they've ever written

Only listened once but I might agree with this. BGWTB and TDPDH were both great but had moments that dragged. This one didn't feel that way on first listen.

I’ve read a bit into this, it’s bc the guitarist actually wrote a lot of the songs even before. That’s how they are able
To keep their classic sound and why their vocal melodies/phrasing have remained so consistent

TDPDH, imo has some of their best songs, but some of their most boring ones as wel. This one is more consistent and I feel like they tried out some new stuff in terms of their songwriting ( catchier choruses and more major key instrumentals).

I honestly prefer their darker stuff but this album is still satisfying

Listening now. This is wonderful so far. Definitely stronger than the last one already.

So as someone who only just recently dug into their albums after loving the singles over the years. Though also hasn’t listened to post Layne material....should I start with this? Or the other two?

I’d say there’s nothing wrong with just going in chronological order... imo Black Gives Way To Blue is a good place to start.
