I'm so glad for personal reasons he's not their go-to for this scene anymore, Nina is twice the writer he ever was.

I feel phony getting so excited about an album by a beloved band I first listened to decades late and only in anticipation of their reunion album but yeah pretty sure this is already one of my favorite things I’ve heard this year. It’s been on repeat since I woke up.

    It’s making me feel like singing A C A B.

no need to feel that way, I got in late too. I'm sure they don't care whenever anyone gets in to them! the tunes rule!

I'll just say, as someone who was "there" the first time, if ever there was a band that felt like belonging, this is it. Welcome to the tent!

Album rules. I'm glad to have the two guitar version of Algernon back especially, Joe is an unreal guitarist but there's a magic to the interplay between him and Colin.

Peter is secretly one of the best singers of the emo revival scene, no? Maybe not secretly to anyone else, but the way he sings in Algernon fools you/me into thinking you can also sing like this, and you/I definitely can't lol.

Can't believe how good he sounds here.

he sings like that on purpose for algernon. in his old band he actually sings and is better than most in the scene.

I'll write you into all of my songs Supporter

Which band was that? I’m new to Algernon

Yeah I know it's on purpose lol. That's my point man! Can't sound this good straining, wavering, shouting, etc. unless you're a very good singer. But also, if we want to get in the weeds, you can only control the voice so much "on purpose" anyway, and I'm sure they leave room for happy accidents and such. It's there in the DNA of the band, beautiful little mistakes and imperfections in the recordings while also being better at their instruments than almost every other band that they played with.

i do have to say i hate that little echo he put on his voice on the record though. i can't remember if it was in more than one song but i don't think it fits.

check out Dogs on Acid too. it’s 3/4 of Algernon and Peter on vocals.

I'm familiar with them but had only heard a song or two before your reminder. Listened to their album a couple times now and I like it a lot!

Unfairly or not I had filed them away mentally with a wave of bands I wasn't super interested in at the time, musicians who left emo behind in favor of grungier, stoner rock kinda sounds. Anyway, Dogs on Acid, very good!
