One of my top ten favorite bands, but wasn’t blown away upon first listen. Hopefully that changes. Favorite track upon first listen is Sweet Dreams of Otherness.
This rules. Glad it didn't end up being all cave in songs lol. Need to give the old stuff a listen. I jumped ship after Watch Out and I'm not sure why.
Crisis. Then Old Crows/Young Cardinals. Then Watch Out. Then Dogs Blood EP. Then Self Titles. All amazing. But that’s the order. Could flip a coin with Crisis and Old Crows……. Just listen to both.
This album is massive. That's the word that comes to mind, as this slower/sludgier direction suits them so well and makes them sound bigger. After revisiting Dog's Blood, it makes sense they went in this direction. I'm starting it again and I already can't wait to reach Dark Night Out Of The Soul... which knocked me out during the first listen.
So they hyped up George's performance in Mistaken Information but now I'm wondering if he's the one singing those low clean vocals in Blue Spade. Doesn't sound like Dallas or Wade to my ears. By the way the Blue Spade - Dark Night Of The Soul - Mistaken Information run is a career highlight. I can't believe I'm hearing Alice In Chains vibes in an Alexisonfire record.
Was listening to Sweet Dreams of Otherness in Dolby Atmos through my Airpod Pros and I felt like it was going quieter and then louder in spots where it shouldn't have been. I wish you had the OPTION to not listen to the Atmos version and just the regular lossless when connect to AirPods. Songs don't "hit" as hard in Atmos when I want them to.
Agreed. I like atmos for some albums but this sounds remarkably quieter and it needs to go as loud as possible
This album fucks. Almost exactly what I want Alexisonfire to sound like in 2022. Mistaken Information is probably the weakest song on first listen for me, but damn they keep it at a nice 10 song structure. World Stops Turning is wild.
50% of a good comment. You made me at least double check. Looks like you can turn Atmos off on all songs in the Music app settings in the settings app. (I had thought you had to turn Atmos AND lossless off). It would be ideal if you could turn it off on the song or album “page”. This current way is cumbersome. Maybe in a future update.
Just started a discography run and I haven’t listened to their debut since, idk, 2008? And holy shit they start their debut off with music for two minutes before the vocals start???? Who does that???? Feels like in early 2000’s every band filled every second of every song with vocals which grew to be very annoying and here AOF come out with two solid minutes of just instruments.
Ha to be fair I’m not an Apple Music user. I just know others mentioned they’ve had to turn theirs off bc it… didn’t sound great.
