I haven't listened this band before but man 'Sans Soleil' might be my favourite track of the year. Such an excellent song. Also the record overall is great. Definitely will spin this a lot.
You are in for such a treat if you decide to go back through the rest of their discography. Phenomenal band and career
I like this song a lot, but as a big Jowave fan (hence the avatar), it bothers me how much the riff is ripped straight from Joywaves Travelling at the speed of light. I'm not sure it's enough for a copyright claim as both songs are so sonically different, but the instant i heard the song for the very first time, I started humming that song.
Dallas is going so hard on this record. I can't imagine he'd have a voice left if they did a front to back show of this.
Listening to the album now. Incredible. Just saw them live for the first time ever at slam dunk and have tickets for Glasgow in October. Can’t wait!
This is a different sound than I was expecting and I kind of dig this direction. It's not quite as aggressive as their earlier stuff was, but it feels like the songs have a little more weight behind the riffs. The tempo across the board seems slower, but the sound seems kind of heavier, kind of more "rock" than their old stuff was. Seems like there's a lot more thought and complexity in how George, Wade, and Dallas harmonize with each other too. Also, Dallas is hitting home runs on his vocal performances all over this album.
First time I've done a midnight drop listen in a long time. Glad I did. This is so much better than I was expecting. Not a single dud on this record.
First listen and this album rules! I've only ever had a passing interest in this band up until this point but waiting for this album to drop, I checked their previous stuff out after only casually listening in my teens and I am pleasantly surprised.
I was actually surprised how much Dallas goes off on this album. One of his best vocal performances for sure.
This is going to take a few listens, but first impressions are it's beautiful, complex and some of their absolute best work. Need to see San Soleil and Unconditional Love live asap.
Sometimes and Bring Me Your Love changed my life - my cousin put those City and Colour albums on my iPod Classic when I was 12 and I listened to them constantly. Those records helped me through break ups and I gained a new appreciation for music that didn’t have heaps going on. It helps that Dallas has one of the most beautiful voices I’ve ever heard! So, when I eventually learned that he was also in Alexisonfire, I was stoked. This album is really special and hits all the right notes for me, I can’t wait to spend more time with it.
This was beyond my expectations after going in blind. "Sans Soleil" is my second favorite song this year.
