Alexisonfire – “Reverse the Curse”

Sounds right where they left off a decade ago. Definitely not complaining.

 

Love the song, but the production is just not clicking for me.

 

Great song. Much better then the last single and familiar drugs. Way more energetic. Not sure about the production myself either, intentionally muddy, but i think it thinks.

 

Yeah this is great. Sounds more like old school AOF. Love that George’s screams are back in this one.

 

I have had this and Sweet Dreams of Otherness on repeat for almost 24 hours now. I keep hearing new things with every listen, which is maybe the point of the mix? It's grown on me.

I think the reason it bums me out a bit is I want to put this song on for my friends who aren't as into this sort music. I know all the layers and nuances will be lost on them on a first listen, and they probably won't give it more than one listen to decide whether they're into it or not.

 

I usually don't dwell on the production too much if it's just a bit muddy (I often like it), but up until now it's been a bit lost on me why they went that way, nothing seem to stand out sonically, not to mention that burying such strong voices in the mix seems criminal to me haha. I'll wait for the album to blow me away in full context though!
