I cannot believe you wouldn't respect our Very Serious and Thoroughly Vetted position of Chorus.fm Moderators. at least in the AbsolutePunk days, if posters had anything, it was respect. smdh
I think "Real Thing" is pretty easily my least favorite thing here. Don't really love the dissonant talk-y parts of the verses. From "Beam Me Up" on, the album is...pretty much perfect lol. I also feel like this and Rarely Do I Dream by Youth Lagoon fit together very closely, but it may also have something to do with me being a new dad.
listening to F&W a couple more times I'm pretty sure he is doing an impression of a guy whose name will not come to me
I think he sounds kinda like John K. Samson from The Weakerthans which is maybe why I like it so much
I actually was gonna say the same thing on Sunday. I threw this on again while taking a nap and it just was such a vibe. Just laid there and felt like it was his best work. It’s so varied and while doesn’t have as much as the Alex G weirdness that most his LP’s share, it’s still experimental enough to push it over the edge.
Louisiana, Oranges, and Is It Still You In There? Are now among my favs from him. Then Logan Hotel just ends the album in such a cathartic tone and it’s probably my favorite of his last three live closers.
im glad others are loving it as much as me! for whatever reason it doesn't feel like the buzz around this one is as big as I would have expected
I can’t stop listening to this album. I put on rocket and house of sugar and beach music and God save the animals and it feels in the moment like those albums have higher highs but when I return to headlights this album just feels like a cohesive perfect listen. I can’t really rank them to be honest. I am curious how the major label of it all is going though. Are new people being exposed to Alex G? Is this selling well? Is his music in commercials I haven’t seen?
Man, I think about this comment every time I listen to that song now. Real "Walking After You" vibes.
Beach Music and Rocket are obviously up there, but the three-album run he's on right now is legitimately nuts. Peak career shit
First night of tour last night in Boston was awesome. They played for like 1hr 45min in full and the new record sounded so good with a full band.
He and his band were excellent in Chicago as well, probably the best of the four times I have seen him live but he’s just a really solid live performer all around.
