Louisiana is really great. And I know it’s one of the more straightforward ones here but I love Oranges

Got like 1.5 full listens while driving with a 4 year old, so take this with a grain of salt I found it to be kinda top heavy. First 3 songs felt like my favorite. But was a good listen for sure. Excited to dive in even more.
Man, please go back and listen to House of Sugar and God Save the Animals. I actually envy you for getting to listen to them for the first time lol
premature ranking (this can and will likely grow on me just as GSTA has become my favorite): 1. God Save the Animals 2. Beach Music 3. House of Sugar 4. Headlights 5. DSU 6. Race 7. Rocket 8. Trick 9. Rules 10. Winner* They are all good and everything after Trick is varying degrees of great imo. Also, Winner is at the bottom mostly because I've spent the least amount of time with it.

I mostly love this album but I cannot stand "Far and Wide." One of the few songs in his catalog I'm actively repulsed by.
This is much less show-y than the last 6 or so albums, IMO. Someone mentioned it being his most immediate album but this feels less immediate to me as a fan of his more recent records. I have to listen to it a few more times to start peeling apart what’s here but, on my first two listens, I really like how laid back and self-assured it sounds. A review I read noted how this slots in nice with other indie darlings who made their major label debut like R.E.M. and Death Cab and I liked that comparison. All of those groups sort of put on their adult clothes and leaned into the opportunity to subtly mature their sound instead of choosing to turn their nose up at the opportunity by being weirder or crazier. And the results were pretty solid subtle evolutions for each band/artist.
God as soon as Louisiana hits I leave the planet. Amazing track and perfectly placed. His last album is my favorite of his and this doesn’t touch it for me, but it’s still really great. Probably second or third favorite if I had to rank but it’s still too soon to say.
