Apologies, I was away on holiday - my first one in about 5 years so some downtime was definitely needed, haha.
Everyone check out the new Cliffdiver album. I saw them open for The Early November this year and they were awesome. Cool people and music.
Albums & EP’s: CLIFFDIVER Mighty Tortuga SHADOWS Two Trains Left Bad Neighbour Downhaul Kingdom of Giants
Downhaul and bright eyes for me but the surprise so far for me is circus trees It is heartbreaking but so good. It really difficult to label it as there seems so much going on. It’s post-rocky but shoegazey with gut punching lyrics which had me singing along. Highly recommended
Such a fucking huge day. CLIFFDIVER -- Probably my second favorite pop-punk band after The Story So Far. A male and female vocalist, saxophone, and a ridiculous amount of energy. Some easycore leanings. Just so, so, so good. SHADOWS -- From the ashes of personal favorite post-hardcore band FACT. This one was a surprise. Kanonenfieber -- almost perfect black metal with some riffs. One-man, WWI-themed, German project. Nubya Garcia -- Jazz. Might be my favorite current saxophonist. Her last album is super important to me. Typhonian -- Death metal prog. Final 19+ min. song is *chef kiss* Wings Denied -- Catchy prog metal. Dude's voice has some good grit to it. Nightwish -- Symphonic metal titans release a good one. Mork -- Dark, dank black metal. FIFTY FIFTY -- Short, sweet, laid-back K-pop. Unto Others -- Used to be called Idle Hands, but band had to change name due to trademark. Catchy gothic metal. Groza -- Post-black metal Avernus -- Death doom band releases their sophomore album after 27 years. Might be worth the wait. Glacial Tomb -- Really good death sludge with awesome cover art Vended -- Nu-metal featuring Corey Taylor & Shawn Crahan's sons. Actually pretty good! Kublai Khan TX -- Very heavy, breakdown-focused hardcore with some deathcore sounds. Does its thing and leaves (24 min). Coffin Rot -- Modern death metal Defiled -- No-frills death metal from Japan Void of Vision -- Metalcore with some electronic stylings Krilloan -- Power metal
What a tease...the list is wrong... "Pale Waves - Smitten" is NOT out today. It will be released 9/27 "BEARINGS" - The original album was very good so if you never checked it out the deluxe version is definitely worth a listen. "CLIFFDIVER" is fantastic and I havent listened to them until today. The only thing I wasn't totally into is their lyrics are at times very unserious and that isn't always for me. "Two Trains Left" IMO is generic pop punk some may enjoy. 'Attack Attack!" is a very Bring Me The Horizon type release imo but it bored me by track 2 so... "Lovelost" is listed as death metal on Apple Music but they sound more like "Too Close To Touch" or "Thousand Below" to me but less put together. "Void of Vision" sounds like what I imagine Electric Callboy (Hypa Hypa) would if they dropped the techno bits and weren't just clowning it. I'm not very good at this lol this is actually pretty decent.
I love sax. Cliffdiver is great. Saw them with The Early November a bit ago and they were fantastic. But the only metal I can stomach is King Diamond, and mostly only when I'm high haha.
Better late than never, and in fact now is a great time - second album ready and waiting to be announced.
How does new Fifty Fifty compared to their last releases? I was underwhelmed by the single before today with the new lineup. I'll probably get to the new release later today but figured I'd ask
