Let's get these people moving faster!

If you like the new release, definitely go back through what's a consistently strong discography. Really carried on from Misery Signals during their relatively quiet past decade.

Are people from Misery Signals in Counterparts? Because I’ve always love MS. And I’ve heard of Counterparts but never gave ‘em listen

No, no overlap in members (I realize my post may have suggested that). I think they've always been compared, and Counterparts are pretty transparent about how much they were influenced by them. But at this point they've released enough music and grown to a size it's a lazy comparison on my part. I just like both so much and they really fill that cathartic metalcore void Mis Sigs left when they weren't too active.

Okay okay, maybe how I worded it didn't accurately reflect how much they've always copped to it haha
The Canadian metal scene is relatively small , and with Mis Sigs having Canadian members and touring a lot here, it's not surprising the influence they had on bands like Counterparts that would've grown up on them.

Death Touches Us, From the Moment we Begin to Love Supporter

Counterparts are just heavily influenced by Mis Sigs. I've had friends play local shows with them when they first started out.

When I saw them open for Mis Sigs Malice X Tour in Toronto, Comeback Kid and Counterparts opened. Brendan said "if it wasn't for Mis Sigs there would be no Counterparts."

This Jean Dawson album is an AOTY contender for me. One of my favorite artists I've discovered in a long time, highly recommend.

Gotcha! Thanks for the clarification. I think Counterparts toured with Silent Planet. who are one of my all time favorites. That, and your posts, mean I gotta give them a listen!

I saw this album on Spotify's rock release section so I gave it a whirl yesterday and I really dug it a lot more than I was expecting. I dunno about AOTY, but it was very enjoyable.
