Holy Shit! This is probably their best album since The Church of Rock and Roll. I had completely written them off because (imo) all the albums they have released since their hiatus have been garbage. This is a surprise.
This is so very true. I haven’t thought about Velour in so long! I lived in Provo/Orem in my 20’s and played there (and Muse, rip) a few time. Never really fit the Provo sound so never really got into the scene
Jay Som is absolutely incredible. And listen, I know Tim from As I Lay Dying is an absolute piece of shit human. The hitman situation was already three strikes you’re out, and then the video surfacing of him acting an absolute fool in front of his girlfriend several months back is icing on the cake, BUT the new song does sound really good and I can’t believe how great the singing on the track is, might be even better than the original clean vocalist they have that’s now with Spiritbox.
The burial waves record is awesome. It’s like a heavier pbtt but with Kyle’s clean vocals. But different! Love it
Love seeing all this talk of my old college town. Was there in the mid 90s to early 2000s for undergrad and law school. Saw Matt Nathanson in a small venue because we had mutual friends and he would always come through Provo before he got bigger.
