It's 7:55am where I live (Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada), and I am already on my 7th time spinning the new Yellowcard. It's good. Really fucking good.
Jukebox the Ghost released a new album today, for fans of piano-driven indie/alt pop rock... Phantasmagorical Vol. 1 by Jukebox the Ghost
Anyone else experiencing some weird things listening to Yellowcard? Like, "honestly i" and "You Broke Me Too" are much much quieter than the songs surrounding them. Wondering if it's a weird Tidal glitch.
I’m not seeing enough love and interest in the new Burial Waves record. I know a lot of you like Pianos Become The Teeth. Burial Waves is Kyle’s other band and I honestly think they’re just as good.
One of my bands, Rough Age, just released our new record today. Check it out if you’re into 90s influenced indie/alternative with an occasional bit of atmospheric elements.
I did the same thing! Instantly frustrated at how similar the band name was haha I’ve only used Overcast and it’s amazing
Haha yeah you're not wrong, they are certainly in/from their scene but the switch to the killer outro gives me some King Gizzard vibes and I'm hoping they do more in that vein.
I grew up in Orem/Provo, and since the early 2000s, I feel like the venue Velour is really THE tastemaker there. Every band that's come out of Provo since then just sounds like clones of every Velour staple band that came before them. This indie pop/rock/folk-ish sound has been the Velour/Provo sound for 20 years.
100% spot on - these guys got their start winning the Velour's battle of the bands. That's actually pretty cool you could identify the sound down to the venue!
There are a couple smaller venues there, but Velour is THE local music venue in Provo. And they usually cater to bands that have this particular sound. And since Velour has such a history with building up bands with their Battle of the Bands shows and everything, I think bands make it their mission to have a sound that they think could get them in Velour's doors, and hopefully on a bigger show there. At least that's what I've assumed the last 20 years, haha.
SO much to listen to today... Blawan - SickElixir The Cool Kids - Hi Top Fade Not For Radio - Melt Mobb Deep - Infinite PinkPantheress - Fancy Some More? Ruby Rushton - Legacy! Ele A - Pixel NYOS - Growl Petter Eldh - Projekt Drums Vol.2 YANAA - KUROIBARA
Whoa wasn’t expecting the new Yellowcard to sound like this. Digesting it rn Ah track 4 it begins to sound like traditional YC
yes. Two of my favorite bands on one bill, i was looking forward to it! I wanted Manchester orchestra to get more exposure haha
Yellowcard (Better Days) -- One of my favorite bands. I think some of their best songs might be on this album. The Apple Music album has some tracks in Dolby Atmos and some not, so you might want to turn off the atmos features in settings so the volume isn't all over the fucking place while listening. Greyhaven (Keep It Quiet) -- This is a blistering, emotional post-hardcore record. Blindfolded and Led to the Woods (The Hardest Thing...) -- Haven't listened to this one too much yet (thanks Yellowcard). Their last album was such a wonderful progressive tech-death thing with good variety, atmosphere, & dynamics. God Alone (The Beep Test) -- Math-noise-post-hardcore mishmash that sounds cohesive & fun. Jay Som (Belong) -- Catchy indie with a pretty good variety of sounds. It's got Jim Adkins & Hayley Williams features too. Elway (Nobody's Going To Heaven) -- Modern emo with some punk influence. Egor Lappo (Skyline) -- Prog rock with some fun synths. Morke (To Carry On) -- Quick, atmospheric black-metal. BABYMONSTER (We Go Up) -- K-pop. I really liked 3 of the 4 tracks (no thank you, PSYCHO). Sanguisigabogg (Hideous Aftermath) -- I still have no idea how to pronounce this band's name, and I am okay with that. They seemed to have cut out a lot of the obnoxious (to me) slam elements, and this album seems to be a slice of pretty good, heavy, death metal. Plague Curse (Verminous Contempt) -- Good death metal.
